The St. Bonaventure Athletic Fund (BAF)
The St. Bonaventure Athletic Fund (BAF) is the fund-raising
organization for the Department of Athletics. It is the mission of
the BAF to generate annual support for St. Bonaventure's 14
intercollegiate sports programs.
You Make A Difference!
Your financial support allows St. Bonaventure University to recruit
the highest caliber student-athletes. More than 240
student-athletes benefit from the BAF every year. Your unrestricted
gift allows the Athletic Department flexibility to respond to
changing needs and unexpected opportunities. Or, you may designate
all or part of your gift to a specific sport or sports, serving
student-athletes on the teams that are most important to you.
Benefits To You
Basic membership at $50 or more entitles you to a BAF window decal,
email newsletters and updates, recognition in the Annual Report and
a SBU Bookstore discount card. Benefits increase with higher levels
of giving as shown on the chart.
Ways To Give
Choose the method that's most convenient for you:
• By mail via check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American
Express.
• Online with your credit card on our secure server at
www.gobonnies.com/donate. Choose a one-time donation in full, or
fulfill your gift amount over a period of time via automatic
withdraws from your checking or savings account or charges to your
credit or debit card.
• Gifts-in-kind of equipment or supplies or services (subject
to appraisal and University policies; credit is based upon fair
market value). These types of donations typically consist of items
that would normally be purchased through the Athletic Department
budget. (For tax deductibility information see IRS Publication 561
and IRS Form 8283.)
• Major, planned and long-term gifts, gifts of stock,
securities, real estate, trusts, bequests or life insurance.
Matching Gifts
The impact of your gift to the BAF could possibly be doubled or
tripled! Please check to see if your employer will match your
charitable gift to the BAF. However, donors will not receive credit
toward an increased BAF donor level and accompanying benefits via
matching gifts; only the personal contribution will count.
Tax Deductibility
The Internal Revenue Service requires that the value of benefits
received be subtracted from charitable contributions when
calculating deductions. To deduct the full amount of your BAF
contribution, check the box on the commitment form confirming that
you do not wish to receive benefits. If you choose to enjoy
benefits, the deductible portion of your total gift is based on
your level of giving and associated benefits. Donors will receive a
gift receipt from the University Advancement Office which shows the
exact tax deductible amount. (Note: Major gifts to St. Bonaventure
University related to endowments or capital projects do not qualify
for BAF benefits unless requested and therefore are normally 100
percent tax deductible.)

NOTE: On June 18, 2007, the Board of Trustees authorized the
creation of a 5% gift administration assessment on all gifts other
than unrestricted Bonaventure fund contributions and ineligible
grants. This does not change the amount of your charitable
contribution for tax purposes. The total amount of your gift is tax
deductible.
