"Every Bonnie Knows Some Bonnie"

St. Bonaventure Athletic Fund Referral Program

Every Bonnie Knows Some Bonnie is a new initiative created to grow participation in the Bonaventure Athletic Fund (BAF) membership and increase annual financial support for St. Bonaventure's 14 intercollegiate sports.

We believe that St. Bonaventure University has some of the most passionate and loyal fans in college sports. It is the Athletic Department's goal to engage them in as many ways as possible, including as donors to the BAF. Every Bonnie Knows Some Bonnie is intended to motivate current members to reach out to prospective members and help grow the BAF, which in turn will help the Bonnies be more successful in everything they do.

A Call to Action

In the 2008-09 academic year, the BAF raised just over $300,000 from 605 members. As of Jan. 4, a total of 501 donors contributed $287,640 to the BAF in the 2009-10 fiscal year. During these uncertain economic times, these are strong numbers. However, it is necessary for the BAF to grow in order for the Bonnies to compete at a championship level in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Participation is the key to growth ... the amount of the donation is not as important as the fact that someone has made the donation, and thus joined the cause.

The Every Bonnie Knows Some Bonnie program provides incentives for current members to help us grow by identifying and "recruiting" new members. The personal testimony of BAF members is the most powerful tool when talking to prospective members. St. Bonaventure is now extending a personal challenge to each BAF member to refer one new member. Just think about the impact for St. Bonaventure Athletics if each member were to refer one new member.

Prizes for Referrals

Every current member that refers a new member is entered into a drawing (one entry per new member) for great prizes. Finally, there are also grand prizes for the top donor who refers the highest number of new donors and the donor that generates the highest total dollar amount in new gifts.

Timeframe

The Every Bonnie Knows Some Bonnie program will run from Feb. 1 through May 31, 2010 (the close of St. Bonaventure University's 2009-10 fiscal year). Prize drawings will be conducted and winners announced via email and also on www.gobonnies.com on the second Monday of every month. The grand prize drawing will take place in the first week of June 2010.

How To Participate

New members can join online at www.gobonnies.com/donate. There is a space provided to list the referring member. New members who would like to pay with a check can download, print, complete and return a BAF form to the address provided. Please indicate the referring member so he/she receives credit. New members can also contact St. Bonaventure Athletics at (716) 375-2319 to join by phone and indicate the referring member. The SBU Athletics staff will track referrals and award prizes.
