Men's tennis earns hard-fought win
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -- Three separate three-set wins in singles play helped push the Bonnies to a 6-1 victory over Bucknell Saturday afternoon on the SBU indoor courts.
Junior Chris Post rallied after dropping the first set to earn the win at first singles 4-6, 6-4, 10-5. Senior teammate Diego Valdenegro fought through similar difficulties at the second doubles but won as well, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. They then finished their day with an 8-5 win at first singles.
Juniors Mikhail Sudakov and Enric Larregola swept their matches at fourth and third singles, respectively. Sudakov posted a 6-3, 6-2 win, Larregola a 6-3, 6-1 winner. The duo then combined for a dominant 8-1 win at second doubles
Freshman Oscar Yanez recovered from a sluggish second set to pull out a win at fifth singles 6-3, 0-6, 10-8. Yanez and fellow freshman Luis Guevara also won a close match at third double, winning 8-7.
The win moves the team's dual-meet record to 2-3. Robert Morris is up next for the team; match time is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
