Bonnies Men’s Tennis Kicks Off Fall Season Friday

The St. Bonaventure University men’s tennis team begins its 2024 fall season at the Navy Invitational Friday, Sept. 13 in Annapolis and runs through Sunday, Sept. 15.

Bonnies head coach Mike Bates enters his 29th season at the helm, returning five players from last year’s team and welcomes three freshmen to the squad.

Returning for Coach Bates in 2024-25 are juniors Hugo Cochlin (Cardiff, Wales), Anargha Ganguly (Pune, India), Archie Graham (Bath, England), Connor Turner (Bournemouth, United Kingdom) and sophomore Arjun Pindiprolu (Williamsville, N.Y.)

Cochlin and Ganguly return as the team leaders in singles wins a season ago when they captured 13 wins each. Turner and Graham also posted double digit wins in singles, posting 10 victories. Pindiprolu appeared in five singles matches in his first season with the Brown and White.

In doubles action, Turner returns after 17 wins last season, including an 11-1 record at No. 3. Graham posted 12 doubles triumphs for Bona’s while Ganguly tallied 11 and Cochlin added 10. 

The Bonnies finished last season 11-13 overall and 2-3 against Atlantic 10 opponents, finishing the season ranked ninth in the Division I ITA New England regional rankings.

In the first round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament, the Bonnies defeated Saint Joseph’s, 4-1, to advance to the second round of the conference championship for the second time in three years.

New to the team in 2024-25 are freshmen Chase Cahill-Welsh (Rockville, MD), Alex Kim (Melbourne, Australia) and Luke Ollivierre (Bridgetown, St. Michael, Barbados).

The rest of the fall schedule includes the Buffalo Invitational (Sept. 20-22), the Army Invitational (Oct. 4-6), ITA Regionals (Oct. 17-21) and the Atlantic 10 Individual Tournament (Oct. 25-27).
