BRONX, N.Y. -
The St. Bonaventure women's basketball continued its strong play away from the Reilly Center Friday night as it picked up its second straight Atlantic 10 road victory with a 64-51 win over Fordham at Rose Hill Gymnasium.
The win is the Bonnies seventh road win of the season tying the program's single season record held by the 1991-92 club. The conference road win streak is St. Bonaventure's first since the 1993-94 season as it improves to 12-8 overall and 2-3 in the A-10. The Rams slip to 2-18 on the season and 0-6 in league play.
Junior point guard Priscilla Edwards turned in another solid all-around performance in front of her friends and family. The Harlem, N.Y. native finished with a team-high 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds and a career-high three blocks.
The Bonnies took a 26-19 lead into the locker room thanks to stout defense. Struggling to score, the Brown and White held the Rams without a field goal for 10 minutes during a key 11-0 run that gave the Bonnies the lead for good.
St. Bonaventure built a 10-point advantage, 33-23, early in the second half until a 7-0 Fordham run brought the Rams to within three, at 33-30.
With the score 39-35, St. Bonaventure put the game away with a 14-1 run over a five minute span to take its largest lead of the game (17), 53-36, with 5:32 left. Sophomore Erica Schiefen's layup jump started the run as juniors Maripier Malo and Priscilla Edwards along with sophomore Ashley Edwards all contributed four points.
The Brown and White shot a blistering 56 percent (13-23) from the floor in the second half and finished at 50 percent clip (22-44) for the game. The Bona bench outscored Fordham's reserves 19-7.
Freshman Dana Mitchell was the only other Bonnie to reach double figures with 10, while classmate Andrea Doneth had seven points, six boards and five assists. Sophomores Ashley Edwards, Erica Schiefen and Katelyn Murray each had eight points.
Sophomore Daniella Roark poured in a game-high 23 points, including 17 in the second half, to the lead the Rams.
St. Bonaventure will closeout it's A-10 road weekend at Xavier on Sunday. Game time at the Cintas Center is slated for 2 p.m.
