Game Notes: St. Bonaventure | Saint Joseph's | Atlantic 10
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The women's basketball team's game at Saint Joseph's scheduled for 7 p.m. has been moved up to 5 p.m. as a result of inclement weather all along the Eastern shore.
The Bonnies enter this evening's contest coming off a win over Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon. Saint Joseph's also enters riding the coattails of victory as it defeated Massachusetts on Saturday at home, 72-68, snapping a three-game losing streak. Jessica Jenkins and Megan Van Tatenhove have sparked the Bonnies since A-10 play opened, as Jenkins has been in double-figure scoring eight of the last nine games. She's also been on a mission from beyond the arc as the junior has made 16 3's in her last four games (16-28). Van Tatenhove is averaging 17.8 points per game in conference play, up more than three points from her season average. Saint Joseph's leads the all-time series, 36-8; however, St. Bonaventure has won two of the last three, including a first round meeting in the A-10 Tournament in 2009.
The Hawks and Bonnies were predicted to finish seventh and eighth, respectively, in the preseason A-10 standings, and so far this year there's not a lot separating the two. One overall win (13 SBU, 12 SJU), 0.2 points per game (60.0 SBU, 58.8 SJU), three rebounds per game (35.6 SJU, 32.5 SBU) and one game in the A-10 standings (3-2 SBU, 2-3 SJU) separate the two clubs. On the year, the Hawks are 10-1 when scoring more than 60 points, and the Bonnies come in holding their opponents to just 53.8 points per game, tops in the A-10 and 18th-best in the country. St. Bonaventure is also ranked among the nation's best in free throw shooting (76.4 percent/12th), 3-point field goal percentage (38.4/8th) and turnovers per game (14.2/13th).
