ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The St. Bonaventure men's tennis doubles team of Luis Guevara and Oscar Yanez is still alive for a flight championship after the senior tandem picked up another victory in the Navy Blue Invitational on Saturday.

Playing out of the No. 1 doubles position, Guevara and Yanez topped Navy's Calvin Mark and Peter McDonald, 8-6, on the second day of the three-day event held at the U.S. Naval Academy Courts.

St. Bonaventure's top double team dispatched Temple's Nicolas Paulas and Kacper Rams, 8-5, to open the invitational on Friday. Another victory for Guevara and Yanez against Delaware on Sunday would give them the tournament's No. 1 doubles flight championship.

Host Navy swept the other 11 matches contested against the Bonnies on Saturday. No team scoring is being kept at the tournament, but individual players and double teams are competing for flight championships at the three-team invitational.

St. Bonaventure junior Elliot Fanshel pushed Navy's Mark to three sets at No. 1 singles, but failed to pull out the victory and fell 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). No other St. Bonaventure individual was able to win a set against the Midshipmen.

The Bonnies, who took four of seven matches from Temple on Friday, close the season-opening invitational against Delaware at 9 a.m. Sunday.
