NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The St. Bonaventure men's tennis team suffered a pair of 7-0 losses to Binghamton and Yale over the weekend at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

The Bonnies (4-9) did not win a singles or doubles match against the Bearcats or Bulldogs, though the SBU duo of Oscar Yanez and Luis Guevara was tied 7-7 with Yale's John Huang and Patrick Chase in a first doubles match that was not completed.

Against Binghamton (6-8) on Saturday, Guevara and junior Elliot Fanshel both pushed their singles matches to three sets before falling. Guevara was defeated by Elliott Hureau, 7-5, 2-6, 10-0, at third singles, while Fanshel lost 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to Alexander Maisin from the second position.

In doubles play against the Bearcats, Guevara and Yanez fell 8-4, Trevor Haskell and Gabriel Cardenas were defeated 8-2 in the third position and Fanshel and Guevara trailed 7-4 in a match that was not finished.

Each of St. Bonaventure's six singles players were defeated in straight sets on Sunday against No. 51 Yale, which improved to 13-3 and extended its home winning streak to eight matches.

Yanez and Guevara were aiming for their team-leading 13th doubles victory when their match against the Bulldogs was called. Fanshel and Ortiz, meanwhile, saw their three-match doubles winning streak come to an end with an 8-2 second doubles loss against Yale.

The Bonnies next hit the road for a trio of Atlantic 10 matches against Fordham, La Salle and Saint Joseph's on March 28-30.
