ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Three St. Bonaventure men's tennis players pushed their matches to three sets against Xavier on Saturday, but the Bonnies were shutout by the Musketeers, 7-0, in an Atlantic 10 match at the SBU Fitness Center.

Oscar Yanez won the second set against Mesa Mei, but the St. Bonaventure senior fell 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1 in the second singles match. Senior Luis Guevara and junior Javier Ortiz encountered similar setbacks in the third and fourth matches for the Bonnies.

Guevara (pictured) took the first set, 6-4, from Zach Mueck before being defeated, 6-4 and 6-3. Ortiz, meanwhile, captured his first set, 6-0, but Brandon MacDonald recovered to win the final two sets, 7-6 (7-1) and 6-4 for the Xavier point.

In doubles play, the tandem of Ortiz and classmate Elliot Fanshel saw its four-match winning streak come to an end with an 8-6 loss to Patrick Bandy and Philip Diaz in the second position. SBU's top duo of Yanez and Guevara also fell 8-6.

The Bonnies closed their regular season schedule with a 5-13 overall record and 1-4 mark in A-10 matches, while Xavier improved to 18-4 and 7-0 heading into the Atlantic 10 Championships April 25-28 in Mason, Ohio.
