CLOSING IN ON 1,000: After scoring a game-high 23 points on Wednesday night at Canisius, senior Mariah Ruff enters Saturday needing 21 more points to reach 1,000 for her career. Now with 979 career points, she is currently 23rd on the Bonnies' all-time career scoring list as she attempts to become the 22nd member of the program's 1,000-point club. Her scoring effort at Canisus was just two points off her career high - a total of 25 points, which she has hit twice including last year vs. Dayton at the Reilly Center. She also enters Saturday needing four assists for 300 in her career which would tie her for 10th in Bonnies history.
CAREER NIGHT FOR MAYCOCK: Junior Mckenna Maycock had one of the best games of her Bonnies career Wednesday night, pouring in a career high 21 points on an economical 8-of-13 shooting performance. She needed just 21 minutes of action to surpass her previous career high of 15 points, breaking that total early in the third quarter. She also handed out a team-high four assists.
WORKING OVERTIME: Wednesday night's game at Canisius was an overtime thriller that was one of the best installments of the Little Three rivalry in recent memory. Senior Mariah Ruff and junior Mckenna Maycock each played 41 minutes on the night - Ruff tied her career high, matching a total she played in a double overtime contest at Stony Brook two years ago.
Maycock, meanwhile, had never surpassed 34 minutes in a game for the Bonnies.
TREY CAFE OPEN: Wednesday saw the Bonnies hit nine 3-pointers at Canisius, but those nine treys came in 34 attempts from beyond the arc (26.5%). Wednesday marked the most three attempts in a game by the Bonnies since putting up 31 3-point tries on Dec. 28, 2008 vs. Syracuse.
BONNIES DUO EARNS A-10 RECOGNITION: Sophomore Danielle Migliore and freshman Emily Calabrese were each part of the Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll released on Monday for their performances during opening weekend. Migliore started her first two career games, averaging 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting over 52 percent from the floor. Calabrese was cited as one of the league's top freshmen for the week after averaging 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. Her four steals on Friday were the most in a debut game by a Bona freshman in over a decade.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THE FIRST: Danielle Migliore made her first career start a memorable one as she scored a career high 21 points Friday night. Her previous best was eight at Toledo last year. Heralded by the coaching staff for her off-season work ethic, the former N.Y. Class C First Team All-State selection had just seven three-pointers (7-47) her first season, but went 5-9 from distance Friday. She had 34 points all of last season, but 21 in the opener.
BONA VS. EMU - SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday will be just the third meeting all-time between the Bonnies and Eastern Michigan and marks the return game in a home-and-home series after SBU made the trip to EMU last December.
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bonnies and Eagles at the Reilly Center.
- St. Bonaventure played at Eastern Michigan last December on a Friday morning in what was the Eagles' Education Day last season.
- The first-ever meeting, and the only meeting before last year, was in Pittsburgh at the Lady Panther Invitational on Nov. 25, 1988. EMU took that year's season opener, 71-68.
- St. Bonaventure is 29-24 all-time vs. opponents from the Mid-American Conference and looks to find victory after going 0-3 vs. the MAC a season ago.
LAST MEETING
- St. Bonaventure controlled nearly the entire first half, leading by eight early in the second quarter and 36-35 at halftime.
- EMU dominated the second half, however, roaring back for a 75-56 victory.
- EMU outscored the Bonnies 23-7 during the fourth quarter to pull away.
- The Bonnies were limited to 1-of-14 shooting from the floor during the fourth quarter and 6-of-28 after halftime.
- EMU hit 10 3-pointers on the day - nine of which came during the second half.
- The game was a homecoming for Michigan native Jalisha Terry who finished 13 points and three assists.
STANDOUT STATISTICS
• TRENDING UPWARD: Though the Bonnies are 1-2 after three games for the second consecutive year, the stats show that the team is much more prolific on the offensive end this season. The sample size is small, however, through three games the Bonnies are scoring nearly 14 points more per game - they're averaging 69.0 ppg after finishing last season at 55.6 ppg.
• EXTRA TIME: Wednesday's game was the first overtime contest for the Bonnies in over a year. The last time the team went to OT prior to the Canisius game was a 69-67 win over George Washington on Feb. 17, 2016.
• ONE-TWO PUNCH: St. Bonaventure had multiple players score over 20 points in the same game for the first time in nearly a calendar year on Wednesday night. Mariah Ruff finished with 23 points while Mckenna Maycock had 21. The last time SBU had multiple players with 20+ points was Dec. 28, 2016 when Matea Britvar had 24 and Gabby Richmond posted 22 points vs. Rhode Island.
• BOUNCING BACK: Mckenna Maycock turned in a career-high 21 points Wednesday one game after having a string of 13 straight games with points snapped last Sunday at Siena.
