MEMORABLE NIGHT FOR MARIAH: St. Bonaventure senior Mariah Ruff is already in the midst of an historic season, becoming the 22nd member of the Bonnies 1,000-point club and entering Saturday needing two assists to tie Priscilla Edwards '09 for fifth in program history (354). Wednesday night, she had perhaps her finest performance, scoring 31 points on her birthday in the Bonnies' contest vs. Saint Joseph's at the Reilly Center. Some facts and figures from her outstanding showing:
- Her 31 points represent a career high (her previous best: 25, twice - last vs. Dayton last season).
- She also set career bests in field goals (11) and 3s (8).
- Her eight 3s tie for second-most in program history, one off the record of nine set by Jessica Jenkins vs. Charlotte on Feb. 26, 2011. Her 31 points were also the most by any Bonnies player in a single game since Jenkins dropped 32 vs. George Washington Feb. 4, 2012.
- Ruff posted 28 points after halftime including 20 points during the third quarter, the most points in a quarter by any St. Bonaventure player since the game went to quarters in 2015-16. During the third quarter vs. SJU, she went 7-of-8 from the floor and 5-of-5 from distance.
- With Wednesday's game, she moved into seventh in program history for career 3s (162).
- Her 5.1 assists per game rank second in the Atlantic 10 this season and she's one of just three A-10 players averaging over 4.0 assists per game this year.
DILLY DILLY FOR DANIELLE: Sophomore Danielle Migliore has become a leader for the Bonnies in her second season with the program. After receiving limited playing time during her freshman season, Migliore has started all 15 games thus far this season.
- Migliore has scored in double figures in five straight games including 20+ points in two.
- She is averaging 16.0 points and 6.6 rebounds over the past five games while shooting 45 percent from the floor (27-for-60) and 46 percent from long range (17-for-37).
THREE-POINT THREATS: Sophomore Danielle Migliore and senior Mariah Ruff are one of the most prolific three-point shooting duos in the Atlantic 10 this season. Migliore ranks fourth in the league with 37 3s this year, just ahead of Ruff's 36. With 73 3s as a duo, only Duquesne's Chassidy Omogrosso and Julijana Vojinovic (83) have combined for more as an A-10 duo this year (Hailey Leidel & Genesis Rivera of UMass are third with 72).
OH, SO CLOSE: St. Bonaventure has had its share of close calls this season. The Bonnies have dropped five games by 10 or fewer points - vs. Delaware (53-52) and Saint Joseph's (70-64) and at Canisius (71-69, OT), Hofstra (71-68) and Siena (70-62).
FIGHTING THE INJURY BUG: The Bonnies have been fighting injuries for the entirety of the 2017-18 season. As of the Atlantic 10 opener at Saint Louis, the Bonnies had seven players healthy following injuries to juniors Mckenna Maycock and Bree Paulson as well as freshman Abigail Johnson. Johnson missed the first eight games of the season due to injury, then showed some of the skills that had Bonnies coaches excited about her potential after averaging 8.0 rebounds per contest in four games at the end of non-conference play before suffering another injury that forced her out at Saint Louis. Paulson was among the A-10 leaders in 3s, averaging 7.4 ppg while shooting 37 percent from long range before suffering an injury on Nov. 29. Maycock was one of the A-10's great stories during non-conference play as a breakout star after scoring 20-plus points in four of the first 10 games of the year before also suffering injury Dec. 15 vs. Buffalo. Redshirt sophomore Keely Fresh also recently became available after missing over a year due to injury. With the rash of injuries, the Bonnies have not played a game this season at full strength.
ADDING TO HER RESUME: Senior Mariah Ruff drained a career-high eight 3-pointers in the Jan. 3 game vs. Saint Joseph's, the 11th game of her career where she has connected on four or more 3s. She needs two more assists to tie Priscilla Edwards for fifth in program history as well (354). Ten points on Saturday will also jump her from 16th to 13th in program career scoring (she enters the day with 1,143 career points).
ARC ACES: St. Bonaventure has been outstanding both offensively and defensively beyond the perimeter this season. The Bonnies not only rank second in the league in 3s made at 8.1 per game, but also lead the Atlantic 10 by limiting opponents to just 26.1 shooting from long range. Danielle Migliore stands fifth in the league with 2.5 3s per game.
TAKING CHARITY: Junior Arielle Harvey has made the most of her trips to the foul line this season - she ranks tied ninth in the Atlantic 10 by shooting 82.5 percent (33-for-40) from the line.
