BONNIES, RAMS MEET AGAIN: St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island will meet for the second time this season Wednesday night. Four Bonnies posted double-figure scoring efforts led by 19 points apiece from senior Mariah Ruff and freshman Emily Calabrese as the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team raced past Rhode Island Jan. 17 at the Reilly Center, 81-70. St. Bonaventure shot over 49 percent for the game (28-for-57) and owned a 39-38 advantage in rebounding for the game. All six of the team's players to see time that night had nine or more points.
MORE ON MARIAH: Ruff has been excellent all season while putting together one of the best campaigns of any player in the Atlantic 10 in 2017-18. Ruff is the Atlantic 10's leading scorer in conference play, averaging 19.6 ppg. Ruff's 43 3-pointers against A-10 competition are also second-best in the league. For the entire year, the Oneonta, N.Y. native ranks ninth in A-10 scoring (16.3 ppg), second in assists (5.1 apg) and fourth in 3s (69). She enters Wednesday two 3-pointers away from fifth in program history (Katelyn Murray '09 - 197). Last Wednesday vs. Richmond, she made a run at the second triple-double in program history as she finished with 11 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds. She also became just the fifth player in program history to reach 400 career assists. Her seven assists at George Mason last Sunday give her 414 for her career, just one away from Roni Hergenroeder '91 for fourth in program history. It was her ninth game this season with seven or more assists and the fourth straight game (8.5 apg over the last four games).
MAKING THEM COUNT: Though limited to 18 games this season due to a leg injury suffered during December that cost her nine games, junior Mckenna Maycock continues to rank among the league's leaders in field goal percentages. Maycock ranks tied first in the A-10 in percentage from beyond the arc – 47.1 percent (32-for-68) and ranks eighth in overall field goal percentage (47.1 percent). All 15 of her points Sunday at George Mason came from beyond the arc as she drilled a career-high five 3s. After being held scoreless in her return from injury Jan. 25 at Fordham, she has returned to form by scoring in double figures in each of the past six games.
ARIELLE RISING: Junior transfer Arielle Harvey has continued to improve as the season has continued. She scored in double figures just twice over the first 10 games of the year, but has made that commonplace as of late. Aside from the GW game she missed due to injury, Harvey has reached double figure scoring in eight of the last 10 games including 16 points at George Mason this past Sunday.
RAINING 3s: St. Bonaventure finished with 11 3-pointers in Sunday's game at George Mason The Bonnies have connected on 10 or more 3s seven times this year, including in three of the past five games (13 vs. George Mason on Jan. 31, 12 at VCU on Feb. 11 and last Sunday). That's the most for the Bonnies since hitting double-digit 3s seven times during the 2010-11 season, but took 32 games to get there.
