The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team wraps up a two-game Philadelphia road trip with a matchup against La Salle Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.

OPENING TIP

  • The Bonnies look to bounce back from a 92-61 loss at Saint Joseph's Wednesday evening. Bona could not overcome the hot shooting of the Hawks as the hosts made 55.9 percent of their shots en route to the victory.
  • I'yanna Lops poured in a game-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Nikki Oppenheimer also finished in double figures with a career-high 17 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and a trio of 3-pointers.
  • Bona's finished the contest shooting 36.8 percent from the field and 91.7 percent (11-for-12) from the free throw line, marking the second-highest percentage from the charity stripe this season.

BACK-TO-BACK

  • Senior forward I'yanna Lops has tallied 20 or more points in back-to-back games for the Brown and White, becoming the second player in the last two seasons to do so. She joins former Bonnie Asianae Johnson, '22, as the last two players to have back-to-back 20-point games.
  • The Stamford, Conn. native finished 6-for-13 from the field against Rhode Island Jan. 22 for 20 points and played the full 40 minutes. Her nine field goals Wednesday at Saint Joseph's is a new Atlantic 10 career-high for Lops as well as her 21 tallies against the Hawks. It marks the third time this season she has made nine or more field goals in a game.
  • Lops has now registered 20 or more points in four games this season. Prior to the game against the Hawks, she had 20-point games against Rhode Island, Binghamton and Bellarmine.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Bonnies and Explorers meet for the 35th time Saturday afternoon. La Salle holds the edge in the all-time series, 18-16, but the Bonnies got the better of the Explorers last season at the Reilly Center, winning 61-57. The Bonnies have not had great success at Tom Gola Arena, touting a 4-12 record in Philadelphia. The last time the Bonnies took down the Explorers at home was Jan. 28, 2012, the same season the Bonnies advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

LA SALLE NOTES

  • La Salle enters Saturday's matchup 13-8 overall and 4-2 in Atlantic 10 play. The Explorers are winners of four straight with wins over Loyola Chicago, Saint Joseph's, George Washington and George Mason. La Salle is 6-2 on home court this season.
  • Mountain MacGillivray is in his fifth season as the La Salle head women's basketball coach, carrying a 60-76 record in four-plus seasons with the Explorers. MacGillivray guided La Salle to a 16-12 record last season and the Explorers were picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll this season.
