Men's Soccer Seniors 2024

MEMORABLE SENIOR NIGHT

Bonnies men's soccer made their Senior Night one to remember with a convincing 4-1 win over Bucknell Tuesday night at the Marra Athletics Complex.

The team honored their 13 seniors in pregame, then went on to dominate from the outset with three goals in the first 38 minutes. The Bonnies (6-5-3) struck for their most goals before halftime in exactly 14 years to the day, last scoring three times before intermission on Oct. 15, 2010, when the Bonnies shut out La Salle, 3-0.

Senior Day MSOC

A DAY FOR THE RECORD BOOKS

Bonnies swim and dive turned in a day for the record books Saturday as part of dominating wins by both the men's and women's teams in dual meet action at Le Moyne.

The Bonnies set 13 pool records in their victories while junior Ben Giera broke his own school record in the 1-meter dive.

@bonniesxctrack finished third out of 20 teams on the men’s side and 6th out of 21 teams in the women’s race at Saturday’s Aubrey Shenk Invitational run on the historic Gettysburg battlefield. Saturday was the final race of the regular season for the cross country squads

HISTORIC RUNS

The Bonnies cross country teams impressed during their meet Saturday in Gettysburg. Running through the historic Gettysburg National Military Park battlefield, the men's team made a bid for the overall win out of 21 teams before taking third while the women's team stood sixth out of 20 squads.

On the men's side, 11 Bonnies turned in personal best times led by sophomore William McCarthy who took over the lead spot for the Bonnies with a new PR time of his own. He took advantage of perfect race conditions under cloudless skies by finishing the 8K course in a time of 26:00.7. That was good for 14th out of 226 competitors in Saturday's race and jumps to sixth individually in the Bona's record book.

After McCarthy surpassed his previous PR by nearly 12 seconds, freshman Sam Tomm turned in a big PR as well while finishing 19th at 26:18.6. That easily bested his previous 8K best so far this year of 27:08 set at Lock Haven last month. His time also leaps to 13th individually in the program record book.

Ethan Luce, Joshua Lopez and Nathan Sikorski completed the team's top five and all finished in the top-26 in the large field, taking 21st, 25th and 26th respectively.

For the women, junior Mia Winters posted the second-fastest individual 6K time in St. Bonaventure women's cross country history. She bested her previous top 6K time set in Lock Haven last month by over six seconds and became just the second Bonnies runner to break the 22-minute barrier, joining Kerry Caher '15 who owns the program record of 21:13.

RHODE WIN

Bonnies women's soccer broke through with their first Atlantic 10 victory of the season on Thursday night in Rhode Island, scoring a 2-1 triumph on the road.

Freshman Torrie Grant-Clavijo and graduate student Thea Juul recorded the two goals for St. Bonaventure, while Chiara Gottinger made seven saves for Bona to secure three points on the road. Juul netted her second game-winner of the season for the Bonnies with 15 minutes to play, converting on a set piece opportunity inside the box. Juul sent a screaming shot inside the left post off the touch from Westwood.

The SBU defense fended off a couple of chances from the Rams in the waning minutes to post the 2-1 victory.

Prior to Sunday's home game, the women's soccer program honored Bridget Kennedy as the 2024 recipient of the Dr. Neal J. Johnson St. Bonaventure Women's Soccer Scholarship. Click here for the entire story

ATLANTIC 10 WEEKLY HONORS

The week opened with three Bonnies athletes being honored with Atlantic 10 Conference weekly awards: from golf, junior Gabe Williams was named the A-10 Co-Golfer of the Week and freshman Braddock Damore the Rookie of the Week. In men's soccer, junior Nic Pucci was named the Defensive Player of the Week

MAKING A DIFFERENCE OFF THE FIELD

Like many weeks, Bonnies student-athletes spent some of their free time helping others around the community and beyond. Bonnies teams take part in a variety of community service efforts, whether it be supporting those less fortunate in our local community through volunteer work at The Warming House and The Genesis House among other places, supporting aid efforts to help those impacted by natural disasters around the country or by lending a helping hand for some furry friends at the Olean SPCA.

COUNTDOWN TO HOOPS

Basketball season is fast approaching with the Bonnies men's and women's team gearing up for the new campaign. Multiple members of the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame made appearances on campus in the past week - current players had the opportunity to meet with the legendary Larry Weise and Whitey Martin and former head coach and NIT championship player Jim Baron dropped by to catch a practice.

The teams also held their first Brown and White Night on Friday evening at the Reilly Center, spending time with some of the youngest members of Bona Nation.

BONNIE BOWL CHAMPS

Back on the field, Bonnies Baseball had a remarkable weather weekend to complete its fall competition schedule with the third annual Bonnie Bowl held over three days at Handler Park under sparkling blue skies with a backdrop of fall foliage.
