Krista Carlson

Krista Carlson was named head coach of the St. Bonaventurewomen’s swimming team on July 23, 2014.

A 2009 St. Bonaventure graduate, Carlson was the Bonnies’team captain her senior season.

She returns to her alma mater after spending the past threeyears as assistant men’s and women’s swimming coach atthe University of Chicago. Carlson helped both Chicagoprograms to top 10 finishes in the NCAA Division III Championshipmeets each of the past two seasons. She also was a part of theUniversity Athletic Association’s men’s swimmingcoaching staff of the year both in 2013 and 2014 and thewomen’s swimming coaching staff of the year in 2013. Carlsonworked with all facets of the Chicago program including recruiting,practices and team travel.

Among the outstanding swimmers Carlson helped to mentor atChicago was Abby Erdmann, who this past season as a freshman wonthe Div. III national championship in the 200-yard butterfly.

Carlson also was the assistant aquatics director of the ChicagoNatatorium and a U.S. Master’s swim coach there.

From 2009-2011, Carlson was an assistant coach and the aquaticsdirector at Radford University in Virginia.

Carlson holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure inphysical education. At St. Bonaventure, she was the recipient ofthe Physical Education Department’s Al Nothern Award forstudent teaching and the swimming program’s Jennifer SavickasAward for dedication and commitment. Carlson earned amaster’s degree in sports administration from CanisiusCollege in 2012.

Carlson is a native of Rome, N.Y., and a graduate of Rome FreeAcademy.
