ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - With the Bonnies struggling to get anything going early, strong defense and the play of freshmen Andrea Doneth (pictured) and Dana Mitchell ignited a game-changing 21-6 run to help the Bonnies cruise over the final 20 minutes to 70-49 win over Colgate on Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

The freshmen duo combined to score 13 points, including 10-straight, during the run that helped the Bonnies overcome a seven-point deficit to take a 30-22 lead into halftime. Making her first collegiate start, Doneth filled up the stat sheet with a team-high 15 points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds in 35 minutes of action. 11 of Mitchell's 13 points came in the first half.

The first 10 minutes featured seven lead changes as neither team could find away to string together back-to-back buckets. After an opening possession lay-up, sophomore Ashley Edwards picked up two quick fouls in the first minute and a half to put her on the bench for the remainder of the half.

With St. Bonaventure leading 9-8, the Raiders opened their largest lead of the half, 16-9, with an 8-0 run, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers to start and finish the run.

With Edwards sidelined, the freshmen tandem stepped to the forefront on both ends of the court and guided the Bonnies on a 21-6 run over the final 9:40 of the half. Stout defense also fueled the rally, as St. Bonaventure forced Colgate into eight turnovers and just one made field goal.

Doneth and Mitchell combined to score 18 points and grab six rebounds in the first half. The Raiders committed 15 turnovers and had a 33 percent shooting clip from the field in the first 20 minutes.

The Bonnies picked up where they left off in the second half, as a pair of free throws by Ashley Edwards with 10:10 remaining capped a run in which the Bonnies doubled Colgate's scoring, 22-11, to push the lead to 52-33.

The lead grew as large as 24, 68-44, with 2:05 left before the Bonnies settled for the 21-point win.

Colgate finished with 24 turnovers on the day and shot 33 percent (19-57) from the field. The Brown and White also had issues taking care of the ball as they committed 20 turnovers. St. Bonaventure finished 25-of-58 (43 percent) from the field and an impressive 19-of-22 (86 percent) from the free throw line.

Senior forward Audrey Latendresse finished in double-figures for the 10th-straight game dating back to last season, with 12 points and seven rebounds. Despite playing just 11 minutes due to foul trouble, Ashley Edwards chipped in with nine points and four rebounds. Sophomore Katelyn Murray totaled eight points, four rebounds and four assists.

Freshman guard TaHara Williams led the Raiders with a game-high 16 points.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak for the Bonnies and brings their record to 3-3 on the season. The loss is the third in a row for Colgate as they fall to 1-4.

St. Bonaventure will play nine of its next 10 games away from the Reilly Center starting with a trip to Lewisburg, Pa., on Thursday, November 30, to take on Bucknell. Game time at Sojka Pavilion is scheduled for 7 p.m.
