BUFFALO, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's
swimming and diving team opened the 2010-11 season at the WNY
Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Ethan Rowan led the way for the
Bonnies, picking up where he left off after a phenomenal freshman
year.
Rowan finished in first place in the 200-yard freestyle,
touching the wall at 1:45.60. Teammate James Martin came in right
behind him with a time of 1:45.82. Rowan then finished in second
place in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,000-year freestyle.
He notched times of 4:46.32 and 9:49.94, respectively.
Senior Dawid Kundzik sprinted to a first-place finish in the
50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.49.
Newcomer Martin also picked up a third place finish in the
200-yard IM. He touched in with a time of 1:59.59. Junior Illya
Nenashev placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of
2:17.43.
In relay action, the team of Kundzik, Martin, Peter Koenig and
Kevin Murphy picked up a third place finish in the 200-yard medley
relay. Finished with a time of 1:35.05.
The Bonnies return to the pool next Saturday against Big East
foe Pitt. The diving portion begins at 11:00 a.m. and swimming
begins at noon.
