FIRST ROUND RESULTS (PDF)
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The opening round of
the 22-team C & F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William and
Mary commenced on Monday at Kingsmill Golf Resort with St.
Bonaventure carding a four-man score of 302 to sit in a tie for
16th place.
The Bonnies faired six strokes better on the back nine of the
par 71 course that measures 6,831 yards in distance. Out of the
four counting scores, the Brown and White shot 154 on the front and
148 on the back for the opening round 302.
“I thought we battled today,” said head coach Andy
Whalen. “The weather was difficult at times and there are a
lot of teams within striking distance. Hopefully, we can come out
tomorrow and have a good showing and finish this tournament with a
good result.”
Missouri (288) leads the field of 20 teams that features seven
schools from BCS conferences. Maryland, Rutgers and host William
and Mary (292) are all tied for second place, while Towson (294)
rounds out the top five. Positions 2-16 are separated by just 10
strokes.
As a team, the Bonnies ranked seventh among the field in pars
with 54 and played the three par 5s at one-under for the day.

Kristopher Boyes aided the solid scoring on the
par 5 scoring, going two-under each on the three holes.
Peck and Boyes led the way with two-over par 71s, posting
identical 37s on the front nine and 36s on the back. The duo is
part of the 12-player tie for 21st among the 120-player
field. Only five players broke par on the day.
Freshman Kevin Lewis tossed in the third score
of the day with a 77, while junior Chris Stoddard
and senior Andy Fretthold each had 79s.
The final 18 of the holes of the tournament will take place on
Tuesday at Kingsmill Golf Resort.
