Peck closes career with second straight A-10

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. — Led by a
one-over par 72 from senior Nathan Peck
in the final
round of his career, St. Bonaventure turned in its best score of
the three-day Atlantic 10 Championship on Sunday at Mission Inn
Resort with a 304 take sixth place out of the 12-team field.
Peck's 72 and the Brown and White's team score of 304 were each
the fourth-best scores of the day. The Bonnies turned in rounds of
309-314-304/927 on the par-71, 6,887-yard course.
Charlotte recorded the best round of the day for third straight
day en route to claiming its fifth consecutive A-10 Championship.
Charlotte senior Corey Nagy also brought home an individual title
for the second straight year, finishing the tournament at
four-under par (67-71-71), two strokes ahead of teammate Olafur
Loftsson.
Peck moved up 10 places in the individual standings from
22nd position into a three-way tie for 12th
place thanks to his tournament-best 72 on Sunday. Despite not
placing in the top five to earn automatic All-Conference status,
Peck was voted on to the All-Conference team after the tournament
by the league head coaches. The All-Conference selection is the
second of Peck's career.
The Tecumseh, Ontario product began the final round of his
collegiate career with his third straight birdie on the par 5,
first hole and finished the round with three birdies. Peck's
one-over par 72 featured a 37 on the front nine and one-under par
35 on the back nine. Peck finished the tournament with rounds of
74-79-72/225 for his seventh straight top 20 finish dating back to
the fall. Over the 54-hole tournament, Peck carded nine birdies and
29 pars.
For his career, Peck totaled a pair of runner-ups, seven top 5
finishes, 18 top 10s and a staggering 27 top 20s out of a possible
45 tournaments. Peck shot in the 70s in all 12 career rounds at the
Atlantic 10 Championship, highlighted by eight rounds of 75 or
lower.
Freshman Kevin
Lewis put an end to a solid debut at the A-10
Championship with a two-over par 73 on Sunday. Like Peck, Lewis
made a big climb in the individual standings moving from
32nd to a tie for 21st place. Lewis opened
the final round with a two-under par 33 on the front nine, carding
seven pars and a pair of birdies. Lewis' 73 was the second-best
round of the tournament by a Bonnie, giving him a three-day
81-77-73/231.
The final two counting scored came from graduate student
Andrew
Fretthold and junior Kristopher
Boyes who turned in rounds of 79 and 80, respectively.
The round of 80 allowed Boyes (77-79-80) to finish in a tie for
33rd place, while Fretthold's second straight 79 put him
in 43rd position.
