Baseball heads to Marshall for 3 game Set

The baseball team (5-5) hits the road to Huntington, WV to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd (7-9) this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Kennedy Center.

LAST TIME OUT: The Bonnies completed their annual trip to Florida by going 5-5. In their final game of the road trip, the Brown and White fell to Northeastern 9-6. Redshirt senior Eddie Gray was strong early on, giving up one run through six innings until he gave up eight runs on the bottom of the sevenths. In total he give up nine runs, all earned, on fifteen hits. The lefty stuck out three and walked four in route to his first loss of the season. Sophomore Justin Brozick scored two runs on three hits, striking out once and senior Nick Brennen picked up two RBI's for the team.

SCOUTING MARSHALL: Marshall (7-9) is coming off a loss on the road to Morehead State earlier this week. The loss snapped its longest winning streak of the season at three games. Eric Escobedo leads the team in batting average (.364) and slugging percentage (.545). Next on line is John Gandolfo. In 30 at bats this season he is batting .333 with 10 hits and three RBIs. RHP Joe Church leads the team with a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 1.12. In his eight innings of relief he's given up one run on three hits, walked three and struck out 11.

BATTLE ON THE BUMP:

Game 1 Probables: Eddie Gray (LHP) v. Aaron Blair (RHP)
In Gray's (1-1) three starts this season, he has an ERA of 5.40. In 20 innings he's given up 12 runs, all earned, on 27 hits. He's walked 12 and struck out 13. Blair (1-2) sports an ERA of 3.56. In 22.2 innings he's given up 12 runs on 16 hits, walking nine and striking out 24.

Game 2 Probables: Jordan Crane (RHP) v. Mike Mason (LHP)
Crane (1-0) currently leads the team in ERA (2.25). He started 2 games in his three appearances, throwing a complete game in a 5-3 victory against Mt. St. Mary's.  In 16 innings he has given up six runs, two earned, on 16 hits. He's walked two and struck out 12. In his four Starts this season, Mason (3-1) has an ERA of 2.49 in 25.1 innings. He's walked six and struck out 24, all while giving up only 8 runs on 21 hits.

Game 3 Probables: Cael Johnson (RHP) v. Wayland Moore (LHP)
Johnson is 1-0 in his two starts this season. He has a 3.09 ERA in 11.2 inning. He's given up seven run on ten hits, walked eight and struck out 16. Moore (0-0) has an ERA of 5.40 in his 3 appearances thus far this season. In his 8.1 innings he's given up seven runs on 10 hits, walking 2 and striking out 7.

HIT PARADE: On March 1 against Mount St. Mary's, the Brown and White score 20 unanswered runs to defeat them 20-4.

URBAN FEEL: Junior Billy Urban currently stands alone as the leader in six offensive categories. He leads the team in batting average (.410) total bases (22) slugging percentage (.564) hits (16) doubles (6) and RBIs (15).  He also picked up the win on the Bonnies 20-4 win against Mount St. Mary's. He also had a total of four multi RBI games.  

.400 CLUB: The Bonnie currently have three players batting .400 or above. Urban (.410), Brennen (.400) and junior Nick Lohrer (.400).

SHUT DOWN. Opposing batters are currently hitting .114 against junior Jason Radwan. In 11 innings he's walked eight and struck out 12. With runners on base, batters are only hitting .053, earning one hit in 19 at bats.

CLUTCH: Brennen is hitting .615 with runners in scoring position and .667 with runners on third and two outs. He has also had 6 multi-hit games.

GROUNDED: Gray has forced opposing hitters to hit into 25 ground ball outs so far this season. He has also forced 3 groundball double plays.
