Baseball Opens Conference Play at Dayton

DAYTON, OHIO- The baseball team (8-6) travel to Dayton. Ohio this weekend to take on Atlantic 10 foe Dayton Flyers (7-13) for a three game set this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Time Warner Cable Field.

LAST TIME OUT: The Bonnies Back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the eighth lifted St. Bonaventure to an 8-6 non-conference win over Niagara (7-11). After seeing a five-run lead erased in the top of the seventh, Austin Ingraham and Michael Meredith came through with consecutive singles with runners on second to keep the Bonnies in front of the Purple Eagles. Meredith finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI on the day, with Ingraham also knocking in two runs to help St. Bonaventure to its third win in four games. Starter Asa Johnson (no decision) worked into the seventh inning, but was lifted with the bases loaded and just one out after tossing six and a third.

SCOUTING Dayton
: Dayton (7-13) baseball lost to Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon 11-7. Senior Bobby Glover extended his season-long hitting streak to 20 games with a single in the first inning and a two-run homerun in the fifth. Glover finished 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Six pitchers threw on the mound for the Flyers, led by right-handed starter Burny Mitchem. Mitchem was restricted to one shutout inning, striking out two to increase his career total to 273.
 

BATTLE ON THE BUMP:
Game 1 Probables: Eddie Gray (LHP) v. Mike Hauschild (RHP)
In Gray's (2-1) four starts this season, he has an ERA of 4.18. In 28 innings he's given up 13 runs, all earned, on 34 hits. He's walked 13 and struck out 21. Hauschild (3-1) sports an ERA of 3.32. In 38 innings he's given up 18 runs on 31 hits, walking seven and striking out 28.

Game 2 Probables: Jordan Crane (RHP) v. Burny Mitchem (RHP)
Crane (1-1) has an ERA of 4.76 in his four appearances this season. In 22.2 innings he has given up 14 runs, 28 hits. He's walked four and struck out 15. In his four Starts this season, Mitchem (1-2) has an ERA of 3.91 in 23 innings. He's walked 11 and struck out 25, all while giving up only 11 runs on 20 hits.

Game 3 Probables: Cael Johnson (RHP) v. Parker Schrage (RHP)
Johnson is 1-0 in his three starts this season. He has a 4.50 ERA in 16 innings. He's given up 12 run on 15 hits, walked 14 and struck out 21. Schrage (0-5) has an ERA of 4.85 in his 7 appearances thus far this season. In his 26 innings he's given up 21 runs on 37 hits, walking 8 and striking out 12.

URBAN FEEL: Junior Billy Urban continues to dominate in seven offensive categories. He leads in batting average (.423) runs scored (13) total bases (31) slugging percentage (.596) hits (22) sac flies (5) and RBIs (20). Urban has also had five multi RBI games and seven multi-hit games this season.

STREAKING:
Coming into the game, three players will be looking to extend season long hitting steaks. St. Bonaventure's Urban and senior Nick Brennen streaks are currently at nine games and Dayton's Bobby Glover's streak is 20 games.

WORK HORSE
: Redshirt senior Eddie Gray leads the pitching staff in innings (28). The closest to him is sophomore Asa Johnson with 20.

QUICK RELIEF: 
Junior Jason Radwan currently leads the team in ERA (2.93). In his seven appearances, including one start, he 's thrown 15.1 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, walking nine and striking out 17.

.400 CLUB: Urban (.423) and junior Nick Lohrer (.400) are the two Bonnies are still batting at or above .400.
 
CLUTCH: Brennen is currently hitting .588 with runners in scoring position, going 10-17 in those at bats. With runners on third and two outs he is hitting .625, earning 5 RBIs in eight attempts. Overall he is hitting .448 with runners on base.
 
LEADING OFF: Sophomore Justin Brozick (.636), senior Mike Grieco (.667) junior Austin Ingraham (.636) are the three Bonnies hitting over .600 when leading off an inning.
