ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure baseball team (9-8, 1-2 Atlantic 10) will play host to Big 4 rival Canisius (11-13) in a non-conference game at Fred Handler Park Tuesday at McGraw Jennings Field Tuesday at 3:00 PM.

The Bonnies return home after a three-game visit to Atlantic 10 foe, Dayton (9-14), where they earned just one victory. The Bonnies won the second game of a doubleheader Saturday, 13-6, after dropping the first game of the day, 6-3.

In the second game, Dayton scored once in the bottom of the first. The Brown and White took the lead in the top of the second on a single by senior right fielder Ryan Skellie, scoring Ingraham and junior third baseman Billy Urban.

In the top of the third, Brennen singled to center, scoring junior second baseman Jason Radwan.

St. Bonaventure took command of the game in the top of the fourth with five runs. Sophomore first baseman Justin Brozick scored on a sacrifice fly by junior shortstop Michael Meredith. Junior outfielder Eric Jutca, Radwan and senior catcher Michael Grieco scored on a double by senior left fielder Nick Brennen. Urban hit a single to left field, bringing Brennen home.

The Bonnies added three more runs in the fifth. Radwan singled to left, batting in Meredith and Grieco. Brennen hit a single to the right side of the field, scoring Radwan.

Skellie went four for six at the plate with four hits and three RBI.

Senior right-hander Jordan Crane pitched a complete game, striking out four batters while allowing a walk, four earned runs and 11 hits.

Sunday, in the last game of the series, Cael Johnson (1-2) took his second loss of the season after going 6.2 innings, striking out four batters, walking six and giving up three runs. Brennan and Radwan drove in a run apiece, pulling the Bonnies within one entering the bottom of the seventh. A three-run inning by the Flyers put the game out of reach leading to the final score of 6-2.

Through 17 games, Urban leads the team in average (.431), slugging percentage (.569), runs (14), hits (28), runs batted in (21) and total bases (37). Brennan is also hovering above .400 in batting average while Skellie is second in total bases, runs batted in and hits.

Canisius hits the road after a three-game home stand against MAAC rival Siena in which they went 2-1. The Golden Eagles dropped the third game of the series, 5-4. Billy Martin gave up seven hits and three runs in his 6.1 innings pitched.

Freshman Connor Panas has hit in five straight games while sophomore Jose Torralba has multi-hit games in four of the last eight games.

Last season, after dropping the first game of a doubleheader, 2-0, the Bonnies responded in a rain-shortened second game, 1-0, to split the twinbill against the Golden Griffins at Fred Handler Park.

Starting tomorrow, six of the next eight games will be home where the Bonnies are 1-0 this season. After hosting Fordham for a three-game set Friday through Sunday, the team welcomes another Big 4 rival town when they face Buffalo for doubleheader April 3.
