STORRS, Conn. - The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team travels to the campus of the University of Connecticut this weekend to take part in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge. The Bonnies will play three games in three days, beginning on Friday (Nov. 22) vs. Monmouth. The team will then tip-off against Boston University on Saturday (Nov. 23) and end the weekend of play on Sunday (Nov. 24) vs. #1 ranked UConn.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge 2013:
The Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge is a new in-season exempt tournament hosted by the Hall of Fame and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Eight schools will participate in this annual showcase event for women's basketball (Boston University, Bowling Green, Marist College, Monmouth University, Ohio State, Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure, UConn).

ABOUT THE BONNIES
• After a season opening 70-47 loss at NC State, the Bonnies have rolled off a four game winning streak, currently sitting at 4-1.
• St. Bonaventure has eclipsed the 70 point mark in three of its wins, already tying their 70+ point total from games last season.
• Their last three wins have come on home court, defeating their opponents by an average of 12.3 points/game.
• The Brown and White have received significant contributions from several different players.
• Crowley's crew is a team with various weapons, with four players averaging double-figures through the first five games (Richmond, 15.2; Healy, 15.2; Bowker, 11.6; Rueter, 10.2).
• SBU has shot 44% from the field this year as a team and have shot greater than 40% in each of their games excluding NC State (30%).
• The team's 59% from the field against Fairfield showed their ability to make good use of ball
possessions.
• Consistent production has come from redshirt freshman Gabby Richmond, sophomores Katie Healy, Nyla Rueter and Hannah Little.
• Richmond and Healy are both averaging 15.2 points per game and each have scored a career-high 21 points in games this season.
• Rueter continues to add to her accolades from her freshman campaign. She registered a career-high 18 points in the team's victory over Niagara, while also setting a career-high in assists against Fairfield with six. Rueter's eight steals also lead the team, and she has added three blocked shots on the year.
• Little has contributed 35 total rebounds for an average of seven per game (tied for the team-high with Katie Healy), while averaging 6.8 points per game.
• Emily Michael and Gabby Richmond are tied for the team lead in minutes played with 30.2 a game.
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
• Monmouth is 0-3 on the season with losses to Yale, 64-55; Wagner, 70-57; and Delaware, 72-58.
• The Hawks are projected to finish ninth in their inaugural season in the MAAC.
• Last year, the team finished 15-15 with a conference record of 12-6 in the NEC.
• MU finished third in the NEC last season behind Sacred Heart (2) and Quinnipiac (1).
• They lost four starters from last year's team, including their leading scorer Alysha Womack.
• The only starter returning to the team is its second-leading scorer from last season, senior
Chevannah Paalvast, who averaged 11 points per game in 2012-13. She was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team.
• Other key returners include redshirt junior Sara English, who compiled a team-best three double-doubles last season, sophomore Danica Dragicevic and senior Shira Shecht, who is currently averaging 11.7 points per game.
• Paalvast is leading the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game this season. She recorded a game –high 22 points and 10 rebounds against Wagner.
• Shecht scored a game-high 20 points in the team's loss against Delaware.
• English is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 7.3 per game, while Paalvast paces the Hawks with 8.3 rebounds per game.
• Monmouth is struggling from three-point land, shooting just over 26% while converting on a little over half of its free throw attempts (53%).
• The Hawks are being outscored by an average of 12 points a game thus far.
• On average, the team is turning the ball over 19 times a game.
SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
• Boston University is currently 1-3, with the team's lone victory coming against Rhode Island (Nov. 16). Their losses have been against Northeastern, Harvard, and Yale.
• They finished 24-6 in the 2012-13 campaign with a 13-2 record in the Patriot League.
• The Terriers dominated at home last season with a 12-2 record. Their record on the road was 11-4.
• Senior Danielle Callahan leads the team in points scored (54), averaging 13.5 per game.
• Senior Whitney Turner is averaging nine points per game and Agboola Rashidat is averaging 11 points and eight rebounds.
• Junior forward Mollie McKendrick scored a team-high 12 points in 19 minutes off the bench in the team's win at Rhode Island.
• Callahan logged a team-leading 38 minutes in BU's win against Rhode Island.
• Freshman guard Courtney Latham is 16-16 from the free throw line this season.
• The Terriers appeared in the 2013 WNIT. They won their first-round matchup against Sacred Heart, 61-49 and lost in the second round to Fordham, 58-44.
• Last year was BU's second consecutive WNIT appearance and third since 2009. They lost to St. Joseph's 67-56 in the first round of the 2012 WNIT.
• The team is shooting 35% from the field and 31%% from the three-point line.
• From the free-throw line, the Terriers are hitting their free-throws, shooting 63%.
• On average, the team is losing the scoring battle. The terriers are scoring just over 62 points a game while giving up 69 points a game.
SCOUTING UCONN
• The No. 1 ranked UConn Huskies have been ranked unanimously in the AP Top 25 Poll after sweeping three top 25 teams. They are 5-0 on the season, with a recent win over Oregon, 114-68.
• The Huskies have handled their competition mightily thus far, defeating No. 3 Stanford, 76-57; No. 8 Maryland, 72-55; Penn State, 71-52; and Oregon, 114-68.
• Last season, Connecticut won the National Title in a win over No. 3 Louisville by a score of 93-60. Along their way to the title, the Huskies downed Idaho, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Kentucky and Notre Dame.
• The team finished with an overall record of 35-4 and a 14-2 conference record. They dominated at almost every venue with a 16-3 home record, 11-1 away record and 8-0 neutral record.
• The Huskies enter the season having lost the majority of their players from last year's championship team with nine. Key returners for UConn are senior guard Bria Hartley and sophomore forward Breanna Stewart.
• The team has four players averaging double figures in scoring.
• Hartley, who was recently named AAC Player of the Week, is leading the way averaging 16.3 points per game and has the most assists with 19. Hartley scored a game-high 29 points in a win against No. 13 Penn State and 20 points in a win against No.3 Stanford.
• Stewart, who was named 2013 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, is second on the team in scoring,
averaging 15.8 points a game. She is tied for first on the team with 12 blocks.
Junior center Kiah Stokes leads the team in rebounds with an average of 8.5. Stokes is tied for first with
Stewart with 12 blocks.
• Against No. 13 Penn State and No. 8 Maryland, senior center Stefanie Dolson led the team with 23 rebounds.
• UConn has also been solid converting on free-throws, as the team's average at the line this season is 71%.
• The Huskies defense has been dominant. They are gathering an average 40 rebounds per game while stealing the ball 35 times against their opponents' 19.
