The Starting Five
1. The St. Bonaventure enter the Brown University Classic coming off two wins at home. The Bonnies will face Drexel in the first game and then play Sacred Heart or Brown on Sunday.The Bonnies, who are on a four game winning streak, defeated Binghamton on Nov. 30 and Colgate on Dec. 2.
2. The Brown and White won a hard-fought game, 65-49, against the Colgate Raiders (0-6) on Tuesday, December 2 at the Reilly Center. St. Bonaventure was powered by junior Nyla Rueter, who had a season-high 19 points. Katie Healy and Hannah Little each had 12 points too.
3. After a dominating performance against the Binghamton Bearcats on Nov. 30, Katie Healy was named Big 4 Player of the Week. Healy notched a season-high 22 points on Sunday. The Lancaster, N.Y. native, also registered the first double-double for the Bonnies this season against Penn State.
4. The three-way attack in the paint, which consist of Healy, Little and Richmond, have combined for a total 229 points this season.
5. In their first seven games this season, seven members of the Bonnies have registered double-digit scoring performances. Little and Healy lead the squad with five, while Rueter has four.
Last time out for the Bonnies
• With Tuesday's win, St. Bonaventure has won 13 straight at the Reilly Center.
• SBU and Colgate snagged 35 boards apiece.
• The Bonnies had eight first-half turnovers, but finished the game with just 11.
• SBU forced six Colgate turnovers in each half.
• Colgate shot 43.8% in the first half, the highest percentage any of the Bonnies' previous six opponents have shot in the first half all season. However, SBU held the Raiders to 25% from the field in the second half.
• The Bonnies have now scored at least 10 points off turnovers for the fourth time this season.
• With her 4-4 performance at the line against Colgate, Rueter remains perfect from the free-throw line this season.
• St. Bona made a season-high eight three-pointers, five coming in the second half.
• SBU have scored at least 20 points in the paint every game this season.
• The Bonnies have scored at least 20 points off turnovers for the second straight game.
Scouting The Dragons
• The Drexel Dragons will enter the Brown University Classic on a two-game winning streak against two common rivals; the first against Colgate (Nov. 22, 59-51) and their second and most recent against Atlantic 10 rival Saint Joseph's (Nov. 25, 76-63).
• Drexel will have an 11-day break between games before they tip off at Brown.
• The Dragons went 15-16 in the regular season and eventually fell to conference champion James Madison in their second game of the CAA Tournament.
• The 2013-14 Drexel squad was a great defensive team, holding opponents to just 55.8 points per game, the lowest in the conference.
• Three starters from last season return for the Dragons: juniors Megan Creighton and Rachel Pearson, and sophomore Sarah Curran.
• As a team, Drexel had 506 total assists, good for a conference-best 16.3 average per game. Creighton averaged 3.9 assists per game, fifth most in the CAA.
• The three returning starters made up 46% of the team's total scoring last season.
• This season, the Dragons are outshooting opponents .416-.393.
• Curran has led the team offensively so far, averaging 15 points per game and is shooting .532 from the field.
• Pearson and Creighton have both totaled over 20 rebounds, averaging more than nine points per game and playing 34 MPG.
Scouting the Bears
• The host team, the Brown Bears, won their first game at Vermont, 81-76, but since lost their next six games for a 1-6 record going into their final game before the tournament.
• Last season, the Bears went 10-18 overall, 4-10 in Ivy League games. In last season's Brown Classic, they lost their first game to Main, but defeated Morgan State in their second game.
• Brown returns one starter from the 2013-14 season, senior Sophie Bikofsky. She is averaging 14 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game going through their first six games.
• Last season, Bikofsky averaged 13.5 points per game, which was seventh-best in the Ivy League. Her .486 percentage on three-point field goals and 86 three pointers made were the best in the conference. She was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Nov. 18, 2013.
• The Bears also return guard Jordin Alexander, a junior who missed the second half of last season due to injury. Alexander is averaging team bests with 19.3 points per game and 3.5 assists per game.
• Through their first six games, the Bears were being out-rebounded by 7.0 boards per game by opponents. However, they averaged 8.5 steals per game through those six games, which was the most out of any other Ivy League team.
Scouting the Pioneers
• The Sacred Heart Pioneers have a 4-1 record before playing their final game against Vermont before the Brown Classic.
• Hannah Kimmel led the Sacred Heart women's basketball team to a 76-66 victory over the University of Vermont Wednesday night with a career-high 29 points.
• In 2013-14, the Pioneers went 12-18 overall, and fell 132-124 in a record breaking, double-overtime thriller against Saint Francis in the quarterfinal of the Northeast Conference Tournament.
• The Pioneers return four starters from last year's team: sophomores Adaysha Williams and Hannah Kimmel and seniors Katie Shepard and Gabrielle Washington.
• The four returning starters accumulated 67% of the team's total scoring in 2013-14. Washington, Kimmel and Shepard all finished in the top 25 in the NEC in points per game.
• Adaysha Williams and Hannah Kimmel were both named to the 2013-14 NEC All-Rookie Team.
• Through their first four games, Sacred Heart averaged 75 points per game.
