The Starting Five:
1. The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team hopes to end its three-game skid on Sunday, Jan. 18 when they welcome the reigning Atlantic 10 regular season champion Dayton Flyers.
2. The Bonnies are coming off a heartbreaking loss against George Mason on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Despite holding a nine point lead at the 3:32 mark in the second half, SBU allowed Mason to climb back into the game and would hit a circus three-point shot to send the game into overtime. The Brown and White would be outscored in the OT period, 15-2.
3. In her first start since 2013, Ashley Zahn returned to the starting line-up against George Mason. Zahn contributed three points, three rebounds and two steals in the losing effort.
4. After a rough start to begin Atlantic 10 play, Nyla Rueter looks to be hitting her stride as she nearly recorded a double-double against Mason. Rueter had 15 points and nine rebounds.
5. Junior Forward Katie Healy leads the Bonnies in scoring (13.6), assists (44) and blocks (23) so far this season. Healy registered 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks against Mason.
Scouting The Flyers:
• The Dayton Flyers are entering Sunday's game on a two-game winning streak. After dropping their first conference game to first place George Washington, they earned wins against Davidson (Jan. 7) and Duquesne (Jan. 11) by an average scoring margin of 13.5 points.
• Dayton is averaging 74.5 points per game, which serves as the fourth-best scoring offense in the Atlantic 10, and they are one of four teams in the conference to average over 70 points per game.
• A large part of the Flyers' scoring has come from defending Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Andrea Hoover, whose 19.7 points per game is the second best in the conference and 30th in the nation. Hoover has scored at least 20 points nine times this season, which is the second most in the conference.
• The defending regular season champions have shot a solid 35% from beyond the arc, which is the second best in the conference. The Flyers have made 100 total three-pointers so far this season.
• Malott is a multiple threat for the Flyers, as she averages 15.8 points per game (sixth in the A-10), 7.3 rebounds per game (seventh in the A-10) and has connected on 21-56 three point attempts.
Last Time They Met: Dayton 73, St. Bonaventure 59
The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team fell to Dayton on Saturday evening by a score of 73-59. Katie Healy had a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Brown and White.
Upper Echelon of the Atlantic 10
Since 2008-09, when the Bonnies made their first ever postseason appearance, St. Bonaventure has an overall record of 143-73 and 56-34 in the Atlantic 10, which is good for the second best in the conference only trailing the Dayton Flyers, who holds an overall record of 151-58 and an A-10 record of 69-19. Since 2008-09, St. Bonaventure has made the WNIT four times and the NCAA tournament once, including a Sweet Sixteen berth in 2011-12.
