ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University freshman golfer Matt Abendroth has earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, conference officials announced Thursday.

Abendroth fired his career-best score in the first round of The Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational on Monday, carding a 71 on the par-70 7,287-yard Old White TPC Course. He logged three birdies on the day, easily surpassing his previous best round of 75 turned in last September.

After a 79 in the second round, he rebounded with another strong outing on Tuesday by finishing the tournament with a 75. He completed the week with a three-round total of 225 to finish second on the team behind senior Josh Stauffer.

The Bonnies return to action April 23-24 at UConn's 'Til Duty is Done Collegiate.
