GENEVA, Ohio – Junior diver Lucas Dekaney earned victories in the 1- and 3-meter dives as the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team captured a third-place finish in the Atlantic 10 Invitational this past weekend at the SPIRE Institute.
 
In the two-day invitational, Oakland claimed first-place with a score of 1352, while George Mason (1190.5) placed second, followed by St Bonaventure (945.5), and Cleveland State (924) rounded out the team scores.
 
Dekaney dove a score of 299.65 in the 1-meter dive to earn a victory and earned the victory in the 3-meter dive with a score of 284.95.
 
St. Bonaventure took the podium in the 3-meter dive as freshmen Ben Giera (270.95) and Ben O'Neill (237.25) placed second and third, respectively, behind Dekaney.
 
Junior Maxwell Murray registered a pair of second-place finishes, along with a third-place finish for the Bonnies.
 
In the 500-freestyle and 1650-freestyle, he swam times of 4:36.16 and 16:17.82 to notch runner-up. Murray tallied a time of 1:42.33 to place third in the 200-freestyle.
 
Sophomore Alexander Behr earned second-place finishes in the 100-butterfly (49.22) and 200-butterfly (1:51.10).
 
In the 100-breaststroke, senior Nicholas Nakaya finished fourth, touching the wall in a time of 58.14.
 
St. Bonaventure's 400-freestyle relay team earned a third-place finish with a time of 3:06.51, while the 200-medley relay team swam a time of 1:33.49, placing fourth.
 
A pair of first-year swimmers scored for the Brown and White in the two-day invitational as well.
 
Sophomore Mikolaj Synowiec finished sixth in the 400-IM (4:14.12) and the 1650-Freestyle (16:39.18), while freshman Luigi Termine recorded sixth-place in the 100-backstroke (51.29) and 200-backstroke (1:54.14)
 
The Bonnies are set to compete in the Reilly Center Pool for the first time this season, hosting Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 5 for their Pink Meet. All proceeds for this meet will go to the Pink Pumpkin Project in Olean. Diving is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by swimming at 1:30 p.m.
