ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team dropped a 66-58 decision to East Tennessee State Friday night at the Reilly Center.
Maddie Dziezgowski poured in a team-high 18 points in her return to the lineup after missing the season opener due to injury. Dziezgowski finished the night 6-for-11 from the floor and made a trio of threes. Freshman Kirah Dandridge made her collegiate debut, chipping in 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
The Bonnies trailed the Buccaneers by 17 heading into the final period but rallied down the stretch to make it a single-digit deficit.
Dziezgowski converted an and-one with 3:11 remaining on the clock, trimming the ETSU lead to 55-46. I'yanna Lops followed that with a steal and a layup to cut the lead to seven.
That is all the closer the Bonnies would get as the two teams traded baskets until the final buzzer with the Buccaneers holding on for the victory.
The Buccaneers stole all momentum from the Bonnies in second quarter, holding the hosts scoreless for over seven minutes in the period.
ETSU used a 13-0 run in that span to take a 25-20 edge into the locker room at halftime.
A trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter gave the Bonnies an early 13-11 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Jiselle Thomas led the way for the Buccaneers with 32 points and three rebounds.
The Bonnies are back in action Wednesday, Nov. 16 on the road at Siena at 5:00 p.m.
