LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Nadechka Laccen scored 15 points and senior I'yanna Lops set the single-game record for blocks with seven, but the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Bucknell, 59-44, Wednesday evening at the Sojka Pavilion.
Laccen finished the night shooting 5-for-13 from the field to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. Lops chipped in eight points and grabbed four rebounds for the Bonnies.
Bucknell opened the third quarter with a 12-0 run, taking a 37-27 lead and forcing a Bonnies timeout.
The momentum continued into the fourth quarter as the Bison held their double-digit lead, earning the victory over the Bonnies.
The Bison (3-5) outscored the Bonnies 34-19 in the second half, leading by as many as 19 in the fourth quarter.
It was a defensive first half with both teams shooting around 30 percent from the floor.
Laccen hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer five steps behind the line as the second quarter horn sounded, tying the score at 25-25 heading into halftime.
Bona's was able to pull ahead by six early on in the second, using an 8-0 run and five straight points from Aaniya Webb to take a 20-14 advantage.
The Bonnies (1-6) are back in action Friday, Dec. 2 when they host Little Three rival Niagara at the Reilly Center. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m. in what will be the Bonnies first home game since Nov. 11.
GAME NOTES
- Lops' seven blocks surpassed the previous Bonnies single-game record of six set by Lops last season as well as Katie Healy (2013), Vachelle Manly (1989) and Angela Scott (1999).
- The Bonnies finished the contest shooting 25.4 percent (17-for-67) from the floor while Bucknell shot 39.6 percent (21-for-53) from the field.
- Taylor Napper and Kaitlyn Parker each pulled down six rebounds for the Brown and White.
