ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team dropped its non-conference finale to Buffalo, 58-49, Thursday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

I'yanna Lops led the way for the Bonnies with 13 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Taylor Napper added 11 points and Nadechka Laccen chipped in 10 points and four rebounds.

The Bonnies and Bulls were locked into a one-point game headed into the final 10 minutes of the contest.

A quick UB basket made it a three-point game, but Lops came down the floor and spotted up for a 3-pointer, tying the game at 41-41 with just over seven minutes to go.

The Bulls (5-4) used a 9-0 spurt to pull away for good, taking a 50-41 advantage.

It was a quarter of runs in the third period with the Bulls striking first with an 8-0 run, pushing ahead by seven.

The Bonnies (3-12), however, used an 8-0 break of their own to re-take the lead 38-37 with 1:33 to play in the third quarter.

Buffalo was able to take early control of the contest, opening the first quarter on a 14-2 run and holding the Bonnies without a field goal until the 3:34 mark in the period.

UB was led by Zakiyah Winfield who finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

The Bonnies open Atlantic 10 play Saturday, Dec. 31 on the road at defending A-10 Tournament champion UMass. Tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the Mullins Center.
