WILMINGTON, Del. – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to George Washington, 54-49, Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament at CHASE Fieldhouse.

Tori Harris finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and was 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Harris also grabbed five rebounds for the Bonnies. Asianae Johnson posted 17 points and a team-best seven rebounds. I'yanna Lops was a force on defense, tying the Bonnies single-game record with six blocks.

The 13th-seeded Bonnies grew its first half lead to double digits, 31-21, midway through the third quarter after Johnson's layup.

George Washington, the No. 12 seed, did not go away as the Colonials chipped away at the Bona lead.

The Bonnies led by six with six minutes left, 44-38, but GW would finish the game on a 16-5 run.

Kyara Frames gave the Colonials their first lead since the second quarter with a 3-pointer from the wing, pushing GW on top, 48-46, with 1:57 remaining in the contest.

Johnson's and-one pulled the Bonnies within two, 51-49, with nine seconds left, but the Bonnies were forced to foul, sending the Colonials to line to ice the game.

The Bonnies fell behind early Wednesday but a strong second period including a 19-0 run gave Bona's a lead heading into halftime.

The Colonials took a 16-9 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The Bonnies, however, stormed back in the second period, outscoring the Colonials, 14-2, in the quarter. The Bona defense held GW without a point for the first 8:30 of the quarter.

Johnson and Harris combined for 18 first-half points to give the Brown and White a 23-18 lead at the break.

The Bonnies finish the season 12-16 overall.
