Bonnies Dominate Hampton, 21-0

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – It was a record-setting day for the St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse team as the Bonnies shut out visiting Hampton, 21-0, Saturday at the Marra Athletics Complex.

The Bonnies (3-2) set the majority of their Division I program records in the dominating performance.

Senior Sean Westley posted a new record for single-game points with nine, following five goals and four assists.

As a team, Bona's set single-game records for goals (21), shots (54), groundballs (43) and faceoff wins (20).

Jake Rosa totaled six points thanks for four goals and two assists. Jackson Rose gave the Bonnies another hat trick, scoring three times and assisting on another tally. Jake Emmick also struck for two goals.

Other Bonnies goal-scorers included Cam Germain, Drew Kenney, Connor Steria, Zach Owens, Cian Collins, Nick Slattery and Joey Paterno as 11 Bona players registered goals, yet another team record.

Collins, Owens, Emmick, Slattery and Anthony Cimino all totaled multiple points for the Brown and White.

Saturday's game was never in doubt as the Bonnies led 5-0 after one quarter and 11-0 at halftime. The Bonnies finished the day outshooting Hampton by a 54-7 margin and had a 100 percent success rate in clears.

Brett Dobson earned the win in the cage while Ben Mazur, Tyler Muir and Conan Lynch also logged minutes.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday at home against Cleveland State. Faceoff is slated for 4 p.m.

GAME NOTES

  • Trent Grainger won 13 faceoffs, one off the program record held by himself and Austin Holley. Holley won three faceoffs and Jack Almond four.
  • Brady Wijbrandts and Kyle Pepper picked up four groundballs apiece while Grainger scooped up seven, good for second in program history.
  • Germain, Steria, Paterno and Kenney all posted their first career goals while Tage Hoeg saw his first action with two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
