FAIRFAX, Va. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team suffered a pair of Atlantic 10 defeats to Richmond and George Mason on the road Friday and Saturday.
The Bonnies fell to the Spiders, 5-2, Friday morning and then dropped Saturday's match to the Patriots, 5-2.
Norka Sanchez and Jean Marrero were winners at No. 3 doubles, 6-4, but Richmond won on courts one and two, earning the doubles point.
In singles action, Stijn Paardekooper bested Daniel Kliebhan in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, at the top flight. Also winning for the Bonnies in singles was Luke Young, taking down Alaister Burke 7-6, 6-4.
Against the Patriots, Norka Sanchez and William Schneideman collected singles wins for the Bonnies.
Schneideman won in straight sets over Faisal Alrebdi at No. 5, 6-2, 6-4, while Sanchez was up a set before his opponent retired due to injury.
The Bonnies are back in action Thursday, April 28 in the first round of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
