ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Head coach Jesse Fleming has announced the signing of Breauna Ware to a grant-in-aid to join the St. Bonaventure women's basketball roster for the 2022-23 season.
Ware, a 5-8 point guard, was a standout player for Mary Louis Academy. As a senior in 2021-22, Ware averaged 22.1 points per game and was selected to the New York State Sportwriters Association AA All-State Ninth Team.
"We are excited to add Breauna to our program," Fleming said. "We have had a lot of success with New York City guards and we are going back to that. She is a high character player that was highly recruited. We are really excited she chose St. Bonaventure. She is a true point guard that will be a great leader for us and is mature beyond her years."
A Queens, N.Y. native, Ware scored over 600 points in just 30 games. As a freshman, she captured MVP honors at the Round Ball Classic, Rose Classic and SheGotGame Classic.
The Bonnies have had great success in recruiting guards from the New York City area – Asianae Johnson '22 finished her career ninth on the Bonnies all-time scoring list (1,444). Armelia Horton '12 was a key figure in the Bonnies' Sweet 16 team in 2011-12, finishing her career ranked 25th in all-time Bonnies points (901). Harlem, N.Y. product Priscilla Edwards '09 was also one of the program's all-time greats, ranking fifth in assists (354).
Ware joins freshman guard Kirah Dandridge, junior transfer forward Flo Vinerte and freshman guard Aaniya Webb as part of the 2022-23 Bonnies recruiting class.
