PITTSBURGH – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Duquesne, 68-38, Wednesday evening at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
The Dukes were able to take complete control of the game in the first quarter Wednesday, using a pair of 9-0 runs in the period to take a 20-5 lead after one.
Duquesne's offense did not let up as its lead grew to as many as 25 as the hosts took a 36-11 lead into halftime.
The Bonnies (3-16, 0-4 A-10) came to life in the third quarter thanks to 3-pointers from I'yanna Lops and Claire Cody but the Duquesne lead proved to be too much to overcome.
The hosts shot 38.5 percent from the floor for the contest while Naelle Bernard led the Dukes with a game-high 23 points.
The Bonnies are back in action Saturday afternoon on the road at Davidson. Tip is slated for 1:00 p.m.
