ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon with Niagara and Le Moyne at the SBU Tennis Center.
Bona's bested the Purple Eagles, 4-3, in the nightcap, but fell to the Dolphins, 4-3, in the morning match.
The Bonnies started fast Saturday morning, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
The team of Connor Turner and Jean Marrero were victorious 6-3 at the No. 2 spot while Norka Sanchez and Anargha Ganguly grabbed a 6-4 win at No. 3.
In singles action, Marrero won in straight sets, 4-3, 4-1 over Rodrigo Beires at No. 5. Sanchez was also victorious in singles play, taking down Xavier Branagan in three sets, 1-4, 4-3, 10-6.
In the Bonnies' second match of the day against the Purple Eagles, Rasmus Egehus, Hugo Cochlin, Marrero and Sanchez all captured three-set singles victories, helping the Bonnies to the 4-3 victory.
The Bonnies wrap up fall action Oct. 21-22 at the Bloomsburg (Pa.) Invitational.
