The GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL are women's cross country sophomore
Mia Winters and men's cross country junior
Clay Peets.
Winters was the top-finishing women's cross country runner for the program at Atlantic 10 Championships in the past nine years as she led the team Saturday in Ohio. She posted a 6K time of 22:58.7 to place 67th out of 141 runners at the conference meet, battling rainy conditions and a muddy course.
Saturday was the first 6K Atlantic 10 Championships for the women, and Winters significantly improved her 118th-place finish from last year's 5K run when she made her conference championship debut.
Clay Peets ran the fastest A-10 Championship time in school history, getting around the 8K course in 24:53.48. He finished 33rd overall in the field of 141 runners, good for the best finish by a Bonnies men's runner at A-10 Championships in at least two decades.
He easily surpassed his previous A-10 Championship finishes – he claimed 71st (25:49) last year which was nearly a full minute faster than his freshman finish.
The Bonnies wrap up the cross country season Nov. 10 at Northeast Regionals in the Bronx.
