The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team concludes its home slate Saturday, Feb. 18 when it hosts VCU at the Reilly Center. Tip is slated for 4:00 p.m.
Prior to tip Saturday afternoon, the Bonnies will honor Claire Cody, Kaitlyn Parker, Nikki Oppenheimer, Tianna Johnson and I'yanna Lops as part of Senior Day.
During halftime of Saturday's contest vs. VCU, St. Bonaventure Athletics will honor Hilary Waltman and Kathy Lynch with a jersey recognition ceremony, honoring the No. 22 which both players wore during their careers.
SENIOR DAY
- Claire Cody is a four-year member of the women's basketball team and has played in 45 career games with the Bonnies. During the 2021-22 season, she played in 14 games, grabbing a career-high five rebounds at Canisius. This season, Cody has appeared in 24 games and made her first career start against Cleveland State. She scored a career-best 12 points, including three 3-pointers on the road at UMass Dec. 31. Cody is working towards her degree in accounting.
- Kaitlyn Parker is a four-year member of the women's basketball program and has appeared in 54 games in three seasons. This season, she has played in 28 games and has a pair of starts, making her first career start at Marshall where she pulled down a career-high nine rebounds. Parker chipped in a career-best 10 points in a win over Binghamton this season as well. She is working towards her degree in strategic communications.
- Nikki Oppenheimer is a two-year member of the women's basketball team and has played in 54 games with the Bonnies. She has made 64 3-pointers with the Brown and White and leads the team this season with 39 makes from beyond the arc. She has played in 27 games this year, making a career-high 19 starts. She scored a career-high 18 points vs. Duquesne last Wednesday and has scored in double figures seven times this season. Oppenheimer is working towards her master's degree in communication.
- Tianna Johnson is a two-year member of the women's basketball program and has played in 37 games in two seasons. Last year, she appeared in 27 games and made 26 starts, pulling down 103 rebounds. This season, Johnson has been limited to just 10 games due to injury. She registered the first double-double of her career at Siena with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Johnson earned her degree in psychology in December.
- I'yanna Lops has been with the women's basketball team for three and a half years, having played three full seasons. She has appeared in 78 games and has made 70 starts over her career. As a junior last season, Lops finished the year with 44 blocks, ranking second in a single season in Bonnies program history. She also matched the then program record of six blocks during the Bonnies' first round matchup with George Washington at the Atlantic 10 tournament last season. As a senior, Lops has started 28 out of 29 games played and leads the team in scoring at 10.9 points per game. Against Bucknell Nov. 30, Lops set the program record with seven blocks in a game and became just the third player in women's basketball history to reach 100 career block Jan. 14 at Davidson. Feb. 8 at George Mason, Lops set the single season program record with her 53rd block of the season. Her 121 career blocks rank third all-time in the Bonnies record book. Lops also has five double-doubles for her career, including three this season. Lops is working towards her degree in sports management.
DOWNTOWN DZIEZGOWSKI
- Junior Maddie Dziezgowski is second on the Bonnies with 37 made threes this season. She is two 3-pointers shy of her career high of 39 which she made last year as a sophomore. With her 19 makes as a freshman, Dziezgowski has made 93 3-pointers in 64 career games with the Bonnies, ranking 15th all-time in Bonnies program history. She is shooting 33.6 percent from beyond the arc for her career.
- The Bethel Park, Pa. native has seven games this season with three or more 3-pointers made. She has 13 games of such manner during her career, including six games during the 2021-22 season.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Bonnies and Rams are set to meet for the 12th time Saturday afternoon. VCU is a perfect 11-0 all-time against the Bonnies. The last time the two teams faced off at the Reilly Center, the Rams were able to outlast the Bonnies, 69-67, in overtime Jan. 10, 2021.
VCU NOTES
- VCU enters Saturday's contest 7-18 overall and 4-9 in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams have lost four straight contests to Dayton, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's and Duquesne. VCU was picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
- Beth O'Boyle is in her ninth season with VCU, touting a 154-124 record with the Rams. She is in her 15th season as a head coach overall, spending three seasons at both Montclair State and Stony Brook.
- Sarah Te-Biasu leads VCU offensively, averaging 16.1 points per game but has not played since the Rams' Jan. 26 contest at UMass. Janika Griffith-Wallace is second on the team in scoring, averaging 8.4 points per game. Mykel Parham leads the Rams in rebounds, hauling 5.0 boards per game.
UP NEXT
- The Bonnies are off until Saturday, Feb. 25 when they travel to Richmond for the regular season finale. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m.
