ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team split a pair of matches against Bucknell and Saint Francis (PA) this past weekend at the SBU Fitness Center.
The Bonnies fell to Bucknell, 5-2, Saturday afternoon before taking down Saint Francis, 4-3, Sunday afternoon.
Amelia Haley and Sienna Smith captured wins in singles action for the Brown and White. Haley bested Tyne Miller, 6-4, 6-2, while Smith defeated Mirra Manolov, 6-1, 6-2.
The Bonnies fell behind early, losing the doubles point to the Red Flash despite a win from Haley and Alexandra Jansson at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, over Valeria Vinces and Dominique Yeo.
Bona's bounced back in singles play with wins from Jansson, Venter and Gubanova. Jansson and Venter each battled back from a set down to claim victories while Gubanova captured a win in straight sets.
Kashish Bote battled to a three-set victory at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, earning the team win for the Bonnies.
The Bonnies are back in action Friday, Feb. 24 on the road at Binghamton.
