Bonnies Fall At Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, MD – Mount St. Mary's hit five home runs to propel the Mountaineers to a 12-5 victory over the St. Bonaventure University baseball team Friday afternoon.

The ball was flying out of the ballpark as the clubs combined for eight home runs.

The Mount grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an unfortunate play for Bona's defense. Scott Seeker hit a blooper to left field, causing a collision between left fielder Adam Rankie and shortstop Artin Biageyian as the ball would fall to give the hosts an early advantage.

Mount St. Mary's (8-8) tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Bonnies offense answered in the top of the fifth with a pair of solo home runs from Danny Manion and Jake Biscailuz, cutting Mount's lead to 3-2. This marks the first home run for Biscailuz since he transferred to Bonaventure prior to the 2021 season.

The Mount would answer with a big seventh inning, scoring six runs on four hits to take an 11-3 lead. The big blows were a pair of round-trippers off the bats of Scott Seeker (two RBIs) and David Stirpe (three RBIs).

Bonnies redshirt sophomore Mark Darakjy hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth, but it would prove too little to late as The Mount secured a 12-5 win.

At the plate, Mount St. Mary's was led by Scott Seeker's three home runs and five runs batted in, while David Stirpe (three RBIs) and Brady Drawbaugh each tallied a big fly.

Starting pitcher Cooper Adams worked seven innings for the Mounts, giving up three runs and striking out eight batters.

For St. Bonaventure (1-12), freshman pitcher Jonny Lintell made a solid first collegiate start by throwing four innings while allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

Senior Jackson DeJohn finished Friday afternoon with a team-high two hits, while Darakjy drove in two runs.

The Bonnies and The Mount will be back at it tomorrow with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
