ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University baseball team fell to George Washington in a doubleheader Friday afternoon at Handler Park to conclude the 2023 season.

Prior to game two of the doubleheader,

Rushil Bhat were honored in a senior ceremony and took the traditional final lap around the Handler Park basepaths.

Game 1 – George Washington 8, St. Bonaventure 2
The Colonials struck first in the top of the third with a two out RBI single from Robby Wacker to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bonnies threatened in the bottom half of the inning with two runners on, but the Colonials pitcher Teddy Brennan snagged a line drive up the middle to double up St. Bonaventure and end the inning.

Bryan Belo extended George Washington's lead to 3-0 with a two-run homer run in the fourth inning.
Â
St. Bonaventure once again threatened in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with one out. However, Brennan induced an inning ending double play to work out of the jam.

The Colonials tacked on three runs on four hits in the top of the sixth.

The Bonnies scored on an
Aaron Herbst's fielder's choice and a
Christian Szablewski RBI single in the seventh and ninth innings.

GW starting pitcher Teddy Brennan threw seven innings, allowing only one run on eight hits and striking out four. Austin Odell came in relief for the Colonials and pitched two

At the dish, Steve DiTomaso went 5-for-5, while Bryan Belo and Tim Nicholson each drove in two runs for the Colonials.

Evan Dieter finished 3-for-3 at the plate for the Bonnies. Out of the bullpen,
Tripp Breen pitched three innings, only surrendering one earned one on two hits with three strikeouts.

Game 2 – George Washington 7, St. Bonaventure 1
George Washington opened up the scoring with an RBI double off the bat of Robby Wacker in the top of the first inning.

The next inning the Colonials scored three more runs on three hits to extend their advantage to 4-0.

Teddy Bishop cut in to George Washington's lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning.

St. Bonaventure starter
Gabe Watts settled in after the second inning, scattering four runs on six hits and striking out three.
Â
The Colonials tacked on two more runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Â
Chris Kahler started for the Colonials, pitching four innings and giving up only one run on five hits with three strikeouts. Reliever Chris Knight threw 4.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing only one hit to propel the George Washington to its second victory of the day.
Caringi tossed two innings of relief and Manion recorded the final out on the hill for the Bonnies.

At the plate, Alexander Wright delivered two hits and two RBIs for the Colonials.
