This week's GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL for the week of Oct. 21 are men's cross country sophomore
William McCarthy and women's swim senior
Ellie Kraus.
Â
McCarthy took over the lead spot for the Bonnies with a new PR time of his own at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational in Gettysburg on Saturday.Â
Â
He took advantage of perfect race conditions under cloudless skies on the historic Gettysburg battlefield by finishing the 8K course in a time of 26:00.7. That was good for 14
th out of 226 competitors in Saturday's race and jumps to sixth individually in the Bona's record book. He surpassed his previous PR by nearly 12 seconds. It was the first time he has led the Bonnies in a cross country meet during his career.Â
Â
The Bonnies next compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2.Â
Â
Kraus helped the women's swim and dive team to two pool records and a 152-85 victory at Le Moyne Saturday.
Â
The Erie, Pa. native swam the freestyle leg of the 200-medley relay, contributing to a 1:47.42 finish. The time is the best the Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool on the campus of Le Moyne has ever seen.
Â
She also swam the final leg of the pool record-breaking 200-free relay team. The squad combined for a time of 1:37.25.
Â
Individually, Kraus claimed a win in the 200-free with a time of 1:57.53.
Â
Kraus and the Bonnies compete next on Nov. 1 at Army West Point.
