Bonnies Drop Atlantic 10 Matchup at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to first-place George Mason, 4-1, Saturday evening in Atlantic 10 action.

The Bonnies (6-7-3, 2-3-2 A-10) were able to take the lead early in the second half.

Kenzo Brito netted the game's first goal in the 56th minute, finishing his shot in the upper corner of the net off the feed from Mo Tall.

The Patriots (12-3-0, 6-1-0 A-10), however, were quick to respond, scoring in the 57th minute and tying the game.

It would be the start of four unanswered tallies for the hosts.

George Mason did not let up as Jordi Sanchez scored the go-ahead goal moments later in the 59th minute.

The Patriots picked up their third goal of the night in the 63rd minute when Kelly Janssen found the back of the net.

The Patriots tacked on a fourth goal in the 65th minute, putting the game out of reach.

Tall had the first chance of the night for either team in the 10th minute. His shot, however, went off the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

Tall took another shot on net in the 15th minute, forcing Jaume Salvado to make a diving save for the Patriots.

Bonnies goalkeeper Nicolas Pucci was tested in the 27th and 29th minutes, turning away both Patriot chances to keep the game scoreless.

The junior made a third save in the 31st minute on Marek Gonda's chance in front of the net.

Brito paced the Bonnies with four shots while Tall registered three chances. Andres Javitt and Gabriel Addo also tallied two shots apiece for the Brown and White.

In net, Pucci finished the contest with seven saves.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH KWAME ODURO
"We played incredible soccer for the first 50 minutes, but after our goal we fell apart. Multiple minor mistakes are costly against a superb team like George Mason. We have to regroup and win at home next week for a chance to make playoffs."

UP NEXT
The Bonnies return home to host Massachusetts in the regular season finale Saturday, Nov. 2. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex with the Bonnies likely facing a must-win situation to have a chance at the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
