ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure University divers Ben Giera and Ben O'Neill will travel to Princeton, N.J. March 11-13 to compete at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championship.

Sophomore Giera posted a qualifying score in both the 1-meter (311.63) and 3-meter (321.08) dive during last Saturday's dual meet with Canisius.

Last season, Giera took home gold in the 3-meter dive and bronze in the 1-meter during Atlantic 10 Championships.

Sophomore O'Neill posted a qualifying score in the 1-meter dive Saturday with a 312.98.

"I am very proud of all our divers for the hard work they have been putting in all season long," said Bonnies head diving coach Will Canny. "Qualifying for Zones is a big accomplishment that I know Ben Giera and Ben O'Neill have been striving for since our first meet of the season in September. The meet truly is one of a kind, bringing together the top divers from across the Northeast to one competition, and I am extremely excited and proud to have both student-athletes attending to represent St. Bonaventure."

The NCAA Diving Championships are separated into five zones (A-E) and a participant is placed in a specific zone based off of where their college/university is located.

To qualify for NCAA zones, a diver must have a qualifying point total in any six-dive list with standard DD. The point total is as follows: 1-meter dive – 300 points, 3-meter dive – 320 points, and Platform dive – 300 points.
