ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team captured a 6-1 victory over Binghamton Friday afternoon at the SBU Tennis Center to kick off the home schedule.

The Bonnies started fast Friday afternoon, capturing the doubles points away from the Bearcats with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

The duo of Abbie Tyler and Cirkeline Lundberg took down Abby Ackroyd and Samantha Jaros, 6-0, at No. 2 while Kelly Barnes and Sienna Smith tallied a 6-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles over Britney Korir and Nitya Vyas.

Tyler went on to earn the first singles victory of the match for the Brown and White at the No. 4 spot, defeating Maria Pereira, 6-0, 6-1. Up next was Anastasia Gubanova who won at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, over Caterina Casadei.

Isabella Venter clinched the team victory at No. 3 singles, beating Ackroyd in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Also winning for the Bonnies were Sienna Smith at No. 5 singles, capturing a 6-2, 6-0 win against Vyas while Barnes earned a win at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 11-9.

The Bonnies are back in action Saturday, Feb. 10 when they host Fordham at 10:00 a.m.
