MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team captured its first win of the season, 8-6, over Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon at The Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Fla.
Kymora Wang finished the contest 3-for-4 with a pair of triples and four RBIs to lead the Bonnies while Elyse Graham drove in a pair of runs.
Wang started the scoring gin the bottom of the first with her first triple of the game, scoring Brooke Bobbey. Olivia Moon plated a second run in the inning with a sacrifice fly to center, giving the Bonnies a 2-0 lead.
Graham extended the Brown and White's advantage in the bottom of the third when she singles up the middle, allowing Olivia Whitecar and Wang to score.
A pair of RBI singles and a sacrifice fly from the Bobcats trimmed Bona's lead to 4-3 in the top of the fourth.
The Bonnies, however, answered when Wang tripled down the left field line, clearing the bases and bringing home Reanna Perkins, Bobbey and Whitecar.
Quinnipiac looked to rally in the top of the sixth with three runs on a double and a triple, cutting the Bonnies lead to 8-6.
That is all the closer they got as the Bonnies closed the door in the seventh, earning the victory.
Emily Phelan got the start for the Bonnies, working 3.2 innings. Kylie Bickert earned the first win of her career, tossing 3.1 innings in relief and scattering three hits.
In the morning contest, the Bonnies fell to UAlbany, 10-7.
Bickert paced the Bonnies offense with a pair of home runs, the first two of her career.
The Bonnies wrap up action at The Spring Games Sunday, March 3 when they take on Western Michigan at 10 a.m.
