ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team fell to Rhode Island, 4-2, in the first round of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament at the USTA National Campus in Orlando Wednesday afternoon.
The Bonnies took an early lead over the Rams, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
At the top spot, Cirkeline Lundberg and Abbie Tyler took down Nikki Fernando and Nadia Rajan, 6-2. Anastasia Gubanova and Isbella Venter clinched the doubles point for the Bonnies at No. 2 by defeating Steph Hylton and Priyanka Shanker, 6-4.
Venter tallied a singles point for the Brown and White by taking down Rajan in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
The Rams, however, earned victories at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 to capture the win.
The Bonnies finish the season 8-15 overall.
