2024 Bonnies Choice Awards Winners Announced

The 2024 Bonnies Choice Awards were held Monday, April 29 inside the Reilly Center. 

The Bonnies Choice Awards were comprised of awards that were nominated by the St. Bonaventure Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and coaches and voted on by all Bonnies student-athletes through an online vote.

2024 Bonnies Choice Award Categories
Rookie of the Year - Best athletic performance by a first-year student
Rising Star - Underclassman with high hopes for future athletic success 
Breakthrough Performer - Student-athlete who had significant improvement in athletic success/outstanding athletic performance 
Courage Award - Student-athlete who has overcome adversity to achieve athletic success
Unsung Hero Award - Student-athlete who works hard, does a lot behind the scenes, might not get much playing time, but significantly contributes to their team
Reilly Award - Student-athlete that embodies what it means to be a Bonnie
International Student-Athlete of the Year
Athlete of the Year - The top male and female student-athletes from the past year
 
 
Adam Rankie Bonnies Choice 24 winner

This year's Men's Athlete of the Year Award is shared between two recipients.

Adam Rankie, Baseball 
  • Leads team in batting average (.345), hits (58), doubles (13) and RBIs (32)
  • Ranks top-10 in Atlantic 10 batting average, hits and doubles
  • Currently owns a 22-game hitting streak which is the second-longest in Bona's Division I era
 
Max Murray, Bonnies Choice 24 winner

Maxwell Murray, Men's Swimming 
  • Earned a bronze medal in the 500-freestyle at Atlantic 10 Championships and set a new program record time of 4:22.13
  • Member of the 800-freestyle relay team that set a new program record at championships
  • Finished fifth in the 1650-freestyle and ninth in the 200-freestyle at the championships
  • Set pool records at Niagara in the 200-freestyle (1:41.60) and the 500-freestyle (4:36.28)

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner McGovern

Fiona McGovern, Lacrosse
  • Led the team in scoring with 59 points on 32 goals and 27 assists
  • Has had six games with five or more points this season
  • Named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on March 18
  • Named to the Preseason All-Conference Team
  • Fifth in the A-10 in assists per game, averaging 1.59 and eighth in points per game at 3.47

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Lex

This year's Women's Rookie of the Year Award is shared between two recipients.

Meghan Lex, Cross Country / Track
  • Has been a standout in both cross country and track, scoring for the team in every XC meet and posting the 6th-fastest 6K and 12th-fastest 5K in school history and led team at XC regionals
  • Registered top-5 program track times in indoor mile (1st), 1500m outdoor (5th), 800m indoor (3rd) and helped set a new school record for outdoor 4x400 relay
  • Qualified for XC as well as indoor and outdoor A-10 Championships
 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Olivia Allen

Olivia Allen, Soccer
  • Led the team with 18 points on 6 goals and 6 assists
  • Went a perfect 4-for-4 on penalty kicks this season
  • Logged 1,406 minutes on the field, taking 21 shots on goal

 
24 Bonnies Awards winner Jake Kucinski

Jake Kucinski, Lacrosse
  • Kucinski finished his debut collegiate season by leading the Bonnies in total points with 26 (17G-9A) while ranking second on the team in goals.
  • A two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the Crofton, MD native set a new Bonnies program record for goals in a season by a freshman (17) while his 26 points are second-most by a Bona freshman in the program's Division I era.

 
24 Bonnies Awards Rising Star Grace Hollenbeck

Grace Hollenbeck, Lacrosse
  • Registered 28 points on 20 goals and eight assists
  • Has eight multi-point games including two games with four goals
  • Picked up 17 groundballs and caused four turnovers this season
  • Recorded the game-winner in the Bonnies first-ever Power-5 win over California

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Aiden Scattergood

Aiden Scattergood, Cross Country / Track
  • Key contributor in both XC and track, placing top-2 in every XC meet this fall while setting the 2nd-fastest individual time in school history for the 5K, 6K & 10K
  • Posted the 2nd-fastest 800m indoor track time at A-10 Championships last year and 6th-fastest mile time this year
  • Also ranks top-10 in school history for the 3000m indoor and owns the school record for outdoor 800m and 1500m and ran the 3rd-fastest 5000m outdoor time this spring

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Noel Brown

Noel Brown, Basketball
  • Appeared in 33 games, averaging 13.9 minutes per game
  • Averaged 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game
  • Scored in double figures in back-to-back games in the Atlantic 10 Tournament

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Callie Kessler

Callie Kessler, Lacrosse
  • Scored her first career goal at Akron and finished the year with seven goals and two assists
  • Tallied her first career multi-goal game against Duquesne
  • Played in 16 games this season after seeing action in just two games last season

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Eleanor Park

Ellie Park, Softball
  • Became team's starting catcher and a supportive teammate while her mom has been battling cancer

 
24 Bonnies Choice winner Jack Putney

Jack Putney, Baseball
  • Team leader this season (.291, 6 HR, 27 RBI) despite a loss in the family

24 Bonnies Awards winner Kelly Barnes

Kelly Barnes, Tennis
  • Loudest and most enthusiastic person on the court
  • Attends all sporting events to support fellow student-athletes
  • SAAC member

 
24 Bonnies Awards winner Clay Smith

Clay Smith, Soccer
  • Finished Bonnies career with 29 career games played, making 26 starts
  • Amassed over 2,300 minutes on the backline in two seasons
  • Athletics Academic Support graduate assistant

 
24 Bonnies Awards winner Brit Colangelo

Brit Colangelo, Lacrosse
  • Third in the A-10 and 24th among Division I players in caused turnovers per game, averaging 2.00
  • Has picked up a team-high 48 groundballs this season
  • Scored her first collegiate goal against Duquesne
  • Named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week March 11

 
24 Bonnies Awards winner Kenzo Brito

Kenzo Brito, Soccer
  • Started all 17 games in the midfield, leading the Bonnies with 14 points on four goals and six assists
  • His six assists were tied for the team lead and ranked fifth in the Atlantic 10
  • Registered five points on one goal and three assists during conference action

24 Bonnies Choice winner Reilly DelPonte

Reilly DelPonte, Lacrosse
For three years he has taken on the challenges and obstacles of surgery and rehab to get back on the field to compete for the Bonnies.  As frustrating as this process has been, Reilly has met these challenges with a brave and inspired face and has been an integral part of our lacrosse program. Every day he facilitates our needs by running the scoreboard, shot clock, music and filming duties at practices for the betterment of our program and we are forever grateful for his unselfish dedication to Bonnies Men's Lacrosse.
 
24 Bonnies Awards winner Mackenzie Nolan

Mackenzie Nolan, Soccer
Mackenzie was an excellent teammate. She was one of the best leaders on the team, being an excellent role model and someone the younger girls could come to for help. Even though she was not a captain she still did everything she could to help the team behind the scenes, even if that was checking in on girls or making sure girls got to the team events on time.
