NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a doubleheader against Little Three rival Niagara on the road Tuesday afternoon.
Niagara grabbed game one, 4-1, before taking the night cap, 6-0.
Game 1 – Niagara 4, St. Bonaventure 1
The Purple Eagles struck first in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair of runs on a single and a sacrifice fly.
Grace Walker pulled one back for the Bonnies in the top of the second with a solo home run to left field.
Niagara, however, tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth, earning the game one win.
Emily Phelan was in the circle for the Brown and White, striking out three over 6.0 innings of work.
Sydney DeGram, Olivia Whitecar and Kymora Wang also registered hits for the Bonnies.
Game 2 – Niagara 6, St. Bonaventure 0
Niagara took control early in game two, posting a six-run bottom of the second on two singles, a double and a three-run home run.
The Bonnies looked to rally with a pair of doubles from Courtnee Peterson and Abby Farber in the top of the fifth, but were unable to come away with a run.
Kendall Stull earned the start while Tori McGraw struck out three over 3.2 innings in relief. Kaylee Grace also pitched for the Bonnies.
The Bonnies wrap up the regular season with a three-game series against George Washington at Joyce Field, beginning Saturday, May 4.
