WASHINGTON, D.C. — The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team earned four Atlantic 10 All-Conference selections, league officials announced Wednesday. Sophomore
Brit Colangelo was named to the First Team, sophomore
Brooke Piper earned a spot on the Second Team,
Olivia Peeler earned a nod to the All-Rookie Team and
Fiona McGovern received All-Academic Team honors.
Colangelo finished the season with 34 caused turnovers and 48 groundballs, both good for third among all Atlantic 10 players. The defender matched the fourth-best single-season mark in caused turnovers in program history and the ninth-best Bonnies mark for groundballs.
Her caused turnover mark of 2.00 per game was good for 24
th in the nation and her 2.82 groundballs per game put her at 22
nd among Division I players.
The Scarborough, Ontario native also scored her first collegiate goal this season in a win over Duquesne. She tacked on three assists to her stat line as well.
Colangelo is Bona's first All-Conference First Team selection since Christine Hanley and Jill Remick in 2011.
Piper, a sophomore midfielder, earned her first all-conference selection this year. Piper set the Bonnies single-season record in draw controls at 68 while finishing second on the team in points with 39.
The Aurora, Ontario native averaged four draw controls per game, good for the sixth-best mark in the conference this season.
Piper had a least one point in all but one game this season and recorded a career-best six-point game in the season opener at Akron.
Peeler was a force for the Bonnies in the midfield during her freshman season. The Toronto, Ontario native picked up 42 draw controls, the third-best mark on the team. Peeler also contributed 16 groundballs and eight caused turnovers on the defensive end, helping Bona's to the fifth-best goals against average in the league.
McGovern earned her second All-Conference selection of her career and first All-Academic Team nod. The junior led St. Bonaventure in points this season with 59 on 32 goals and 27 assists while maintaining a 4.0 GPA, studying health science.
The Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. native finished eighth in the A-10 in points and fifth in assists.
The junior's point total this season propelled her to a spot in the top-10 on the Bonnies all-time points leaderboard with 145 through three seasons.
The Bonnies finished their season at 8-9 overall, their most wins since the 2008 season. Their four spots on the All-Conference teams are the most from SBU since five players made it in 2011.
